Dear Sheila and family, Bill and I were very sorry to hear about Doug's death. We have so many wonderful memories of Doug and we will never forget his kindness to our Gail. Memories of Doug include watching him take the dogs our for an evening stroll in Laurier, enjoying the golf course, greeting the bridge club ladies, his great collection of hats and just for being a wonderful husband and father and a proud citizen of Edmonton. We are sorry that we could not attend the service. We were thinking of you last Friday. With our love and deepest sympathy. Gerry and Bill.

I directed one of the the bands at Grant MacEwan that Doug played in. He was always enthusiastic about the music and the first guy there to warm up, and the last to leave. He shared his life experiences with me and he had me enamoured at every word. Thanks Doug - Jerrold

I knew Doug from the Grant MacEwan Outreach band. He really anchored the trombone section and, as one of our senior members, he knew the music from the Big Band era first hand.
His passing is our loss but heaven gains a great trombone player.

On behalf of the Edmonton Firefighters Dance Band by Secretary R. Sallis.
It was our pleasure to have Douglas as a member of our organization and our friend. For many years Douglas was our lead trumpet player and provided his sweet sounds to countless people that we entertained. He will be greatly missed in our band.
Our collective condolences go out to Sheila and extended family on the loss of your beloved Dr. Douglas Ringrose.

I knew Dr. Ringrose not as the good doctor but as my best and oldest friend Jennifer's dad. Jennifer and I lived on the same block in Laurier Heights and started playing together as toddlers. Many memories of Dr. Ringrose come to mind now, upon hearing the deeply sad news of this incredible man's passing.
One summer, when Jennifer and I were not even teenagers yet, Dr. Ringrose would take us golfing literally at the crack of dawn, at about 5 a.m., when the sprinklers were still going and the dew was still sparkling in the sun. We had the whole course to ourselves. Jennifer and I would barely make it through nine holes, while Dr. Ringrose would go on to play 36 the same day. He also always put me to shame in the swimming pool, where my half-hour workout was his warm-up. Dr. Ringrose even managed to keep his cool when Jenny and I, as little creative cooks, put a giant bowl of marshmallows in the microwave on high for five minutes. It was not a pretty sight in there afterward.
I will always remember Dr. Ringrose's positive attitude; he was always bright, cheery, and friendly. I remember him telling us this saying: Persistence pays off. I'm pretty sure Jennifer remembers this one too.
I also know what a positive and profound influence Dr. Ringrose had on Jennifer. She always looked up to him. His physical absence in her life will surely forever ache, but I also know his spiritual presence will always be by her side.
I sincerely wish I could be at the memorial. I hope that Jennifer and all of her family members are taking good care of one another and finding some comfort in the strength Dr. Ringrose inspired. I am thinking of you and send my love, sympathy, and support to all.

Our family is very proud of Douglas. From an early age, he was inspired to be "the best that he could be". This characteristic was evidenced in the many achievements across various roles that he played - husband, father, friend, athlete, medical professional, and musician. Together with his lovely wife Sheila, they instilled the same characteristic in their children and grandchildren - an outstanding legacy that will continue to make the world a better place.
