Reidsville - Charles Bethel Setliff, 83, of 184 VFW Road, died on Monday, May 23, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Setliff was born in Rockingham County to the late Charlie Cleveland Setliff and Ollie Mae Wall Setliff. He was a retired farmer and a retiree of The American Tobacco Company. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII and a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and an Elder. In addition to his parents, Bethel was preceded in death by his step mother, Annie Johnson Setliff; first wife, Jean Gammon Setliff; sisters, Mary Ann Setliff, Ollie Mae Setliff and Nannie Soyars; brothers, Duke Setliff and David "Shorty" Setliff.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Allen Setliff of the home ; sons, Charles Setliff, of Reidsville, Barry Setliff, of Reidsville and friend, Kim Smith; daughters, Gail Stanfield and husband, Larry, Doris Pruitt and husband, Melvin; all of Reidsville; grandson, Jody Setliff of Ruffin; granddaughters, Molly and Katie Stanfield, Kristie Lovelace and husband, Mark, of Reidsville; great grandson, Tyler Lovelace; step son, Jack French and wife, Nancy; step daughter, Vickie Meador and husband, Bill; step grandsons, Jordan French and Colby Meador, all of Reidsville, Joe Meador and wife, Cameron of Winston-Salem, NC ; step granddaughters, Lisa Meador, Ashley Perkins and husband, Scott, all of Reidsville; sister, Margaret Hodges of Reidsville; brothers, William Setliff and wife, Nancy of Ruffin, James Setliff and wife, Shelby of Reidsville; sisters-in-law, Bea Setliff, Peggy Setliff, Virginia "Teny" Blackwell and husband, Allen, Dot Early and husband, Jimmy , all of Reidsville; numerous nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Dr. Stephen Luking, Betty Mays, Jane Gooch and staff of Home Health.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 25th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, 361 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Reidsville, NC 27320 or Greenwood Presbyterian Church, Stain Glass Window Fund, 618 Narrow Gauge Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.
