JULIAN — Mr. Charlie Alson Clapp, 83, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 10 at Forbis & Dick, Pleasant Garden Chapel. Interment will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park with Elder Richard Kirby and Elder E. W. Hooven officiating.
Mr. Clapp was born on August 23, 1927 in Alamance County. Charlie was a veteran, having served in the United States Army and worked as an oiler at Lorillard Tobacco Company.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ben and Mamie Bowman Clapp; sister, Ruth Deaton and brother, Lewis Clapp.
Survivors include wife, Lucy Flinchum Clapp; daughter Jeannie Hunt (Jack) of Kernersville; sister, Eula Priddy; sister-in-law, Mary Clapp; grandchildren, Annalee Elkins, Ben West, Sarah West, and great-grandchild, Leeland Williams.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 at Forbis & Dick, Pleasant Garden Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Julian Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 1905 NC 62 East, Julian, NC 27283, or to The Kidney Foundation, 5950 Fairview Rd., Suite 550, Charlotte, NC 28210.

To the family of Charle. I worked with him at Lorillard for many years and when I read his obituary I said out loud that he was the gentlemen of all the times. Just a real sweet pleasant person you enjoyed haveing conversation. God bless yu family. Another Solider has gone home
