Charlotte, Votre rire me manque.
Quel plaisir ce fut de vous connaître et travailler sous votre direction! Votre sagesse et votre sens de l'humour étaient sans faille. Vous étiez le phare et le pilier de GPS. Reposez en paix. Sincères condoléances à Pierre et famille.

Demanding as it could be, Charlotte loved her work. Friendships with valued colleagues, an understanding husband and a quirky sense of humour were her strengths. (Dare I say, we had all that in common?) For me over the years we worked together, a call to or from Charlotte meant I'd get insight, helpful information and invariably,a much appreciated laugh. I will miss her help and her humour. I thank Pierre and Mme. Laurette Légaré, for generously sharing the celebration of Charlotte's life with us. Kim Bartlett

Charlotte has always cared for every student. No one was insignificant. Charlotte was always available to discuss any issue, and I always knew that we had a great student advocate who did not work in an ivory tower. Charlotte was warm, approachable, and had a great sense of humour. Yet she had great authority and respect that was earned. I miss you. My condolences to Charlotte's family.

I was saddened to read of Charlotte's passing. She was a mentor and a friend. Charlotte always made time for you. She was patient and fair and guided you in the right direction. Condolences to the family and to her GPS colleagues. Charlotte made many contributions to graduate studies during her years at McGill. For example, she was extraordinarily patient and helpful in the 1990s in guiding us through the approval process for an economic policy masters program offered jointly by Management and Arts (Economics), which was later transferred to Makerere University, Kampla, and the University of Legon, Ghana. She held high standards and could pose tough but fair questions leading to improvements that served participants well. Charlotte will be deeply missed.

Tu vas me manquer terriblement, Charlotte. Mais ce ne peut se comparer à la grande perte que vivent Pierre et madame Légaré, à qui j'offre mes condoléances et mon soutien. Claude

Charlotte Légaré will be dearly missed at McGill. She was clearly dedicated to making the academic experience of graduate students the best it could be, was fair and wise in her review of policies and her application of regulations, and was simply a very nice person to work with, always courteous and positive. Mes sincères condoléances à son conjoint et à toute sa famille.

I know this will be a very sad time for all in her family and those she worked at McGill. It is for me too, and I have worried over the past few months if this would be the final outcome. Charlotte was one of those people that made it worth putting in the extra efforts needed to get things done. I have worked with her, as a Program Director, for over 20 years, and got to know her voice and good sense over the phone. Being on the Mac Campus, we did not meet face to face very often, but our phone interactions were always very pleasant, to the point, with always a few laughs along the way. She had a VERY good sense of humour, which often helped to defuse touchy situations.
I have already missed her, and now have to face the new reality that she is not coming back, as I had (optimistically) hoped.

Madame Legare and Pierre, please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Your sorrow is shared by all who knew Charlotte. As a former member of her Graduate Studies team, I knew Charlotte as a dedicated and supportive leader. She was a tireless worker, focused and always available to her staff, to departmental personnel and to students. McGill was fortunate to be represented by a Director of Charlotte's quality. Our team was fortunate to have had her at the helm, as both a boss and a friend.

The pleasure of working with Charlotte was infinite. She was a consumate university administrator with a wonderful sense of humor and a sense of how attention to detail creates both strength and flexibilty at the same time. She served generations of graduate students. In doing so she left a remarkable legacy to Quebec, Canada and many countries around the world. Her colleagues at GPS and their work gave her great pride. She represented the finest of McGill's devotion to excellence.

My deepest sympathies to Pierre and Charlotte's family for this terribly sad loss....I first walked into Charlotte's office almost 13 years ago here at McGill, as green as could be. However, Charlotte must have seen something in me, as she gave me a chance and I was hired. I will always be grateful for that opportunity. I (have) and still do, continue to miss her words of wisdom, that so helped me in many trying circumstances, but most of all, I will so miss her laughter..
Sincerely,
