Charlotte Wilkerson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 1, 2016.
Charlotte Lorraine Wilkerson, 84, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016 at Wesley Long Hospital. Lorraine was born on January 18, 1932 in Covington, VA, the daughter of Fred and Allie Smith Hoke. She placed her family first and always looked forward to time she could spend with them. She loved to plan any holiday or special occasion and have the family gather together. She enjoyed quilting and knitting and would never turn down the chance to work a jig saw puzzle. Lorraine joined Lindley Park Baptist Church shortly after moving here with her family and remained a member for 50 plus years. Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard Lee Wilkerson in 2013; one sister and three brothers. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Ruby Johnson ( Gordon) of Stokesdale, NC; sons, Michael Wilkerson (Debbie) of Greensboro, NC and Bentley Wilkerson( Beverly Echerd) of Greensboro, NC; three grandchildren, Samantha Wilkerson, Eric Wilkerson, Karen Coughlin (Nick); great grandchildren, Jacob and Maiya Coughlin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 2:00 pm at Lindley Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be private on Sunday.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of the fourth floor and ICU of Wesley Long Hospital for the wonderful care given their mother.

Memorials may be made to the Lindley Park Baptist Church Air Conditioner Fund, 4010 Walker Ave., Greensboro, NC 27403.

Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel is assisting the Wilkerson family.

Mike and Debbie I am so sorry for your loss. I never got to meet your mom but I'm sure she was a very caring lady because she raised a very caring son. Knowing we will see our loved ones again one day helps us get through the hard times. My prayers and thoughts are with you both.

Ruby, Mike, and Bentley, we were so sorry to hear that Lorraine has passed. We remember your Mom and Dad with great affection. We had some wonderful times with them and Lorraine was always such a graceful lady. We were out of town and were not able to be at the service, however, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Know that you had wonderful parents that were loved greatly by family and friends. May you feel the prayers of Christian friends as they seek God's comfort and blessings on your family. Love, Taylor and Susan Sheppard
