Walking to class with him at Miami and Chris telling his sister that he needed their shared car to go to a "peanut butter party" just to get a rise out of her. It worked.
Chris always liked to agitate or play tricks on people in college. There was a playful, juvenile side to him which I enjoyed, having lived with him for my Junior year. He was always up for a good laugh and would clap his hands once and laugh and laugh and laugh. I used to call himself as "Coleman", and he would refer to himself in the third person as "Coleman" as well.
Chris brought great enjoyment to my life, and I miss him very much. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

I truly miss father, Cris, he was a blessing to Saint James parish and to the entire Catholic community. I can hardly attend mass at Saint James of the valley, as I was very active in the church, and he is deeply missed. I will start praying to him for his blessings and guidance in my life.

Chris:
While we miss you this year for your Florida visit with us, we know you are in a place where the weather is always perfect. Our loss is God's gain for your presence. Thanks always for being our friend.

I am so sorry that I just heard about Fr. Chris' passing. I had no idea. We were classmates and friends as we worked to get our MBA at Xavier in 2000. This really makes me sad.

My deepest sympathy to Fr. Chris's family. Fr. Chris was a welcome addition to St. James of the Valley. His love for Christ, others and everyone in our parish. I had moved to Florida in June and just learned of the terrible tragic accident. I will miss him terribly and pray to him for guidance. Fr. Chris was one of the most vibrant, kind and sensitive priest I have known for 40 years. He always remembered my name-- gave me a wink when administering the Eucharist and being a lector at St. James. I am terribly saddened and will miss his smile, wit and true sincerity as one of God's disciples. Blessings and peace to his Mother and sister.

Dear family and friends of Fr. Chris,
We knew Fr. Chris during his appointment at Good Shepherd. He was a happy, joyful and kind man and priest. His "answering the call" to his priestly vocation was and is a gift to the Church, including in a special way our local church of Cincinnati and Dayton.
May he intercede for us now as we mourn his loss and pray for him and his family.

I was so sorry to hear of Fr. Chris' passing. We met at Good Shepherd, and continued our friendship after he went to St. Anthony of Padua. He was always so very kind to me and to my family. His authenticity, humor, and down to earth attitude set him apart. He will be deeply missed

I knew Fr. Chris only through friends toward the end of his time in Charlotte. Even in that short time, I could see how he was cherished by his friends and energized people around him. Deepest sympathies to his family, friends and parish. I know he will be greatly missed.

Dear Mrs. Coleman, Paula and Doug, and family:
I well remember when Chris began playing the organ at St. Pat's and I would canter. He became a fine musician. He certainly demonstrated a love of Christ and a love for life in many meaningful ways.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time. He walks with the Lord yet the loss here is great!

Given an almost impossible task by the Archdiocese to manage three parishes, Fr. Chris Coleman made it look easy and did the impossible with grace and humor. We are missing you so much already.

Dear Family,
Our most sincere condolences. Father Chris will be missed as our parish priest at St. Matthias but most of all we will miss his personality. So young, so vibrant, friendly, warm, a good celebrant, wonderful homilist, involved in everything, able to communicate with our youth, and very caring with the elderly. May the dear Lord bless each of you and welcome Father Chris to His heavenly home with open arms. We will pray for him and to him as he can assist us now more than before interceding directly to the Father.

I remember working on my instrument rating with Chris as co-pilot. He was always up for adventure and always made time for his friends. He was like this at Miami University, (Room 102, Havinhurst Hall, our Junior year) and all throughout his life. I can remember his laugh and signature hand-clap when you told him something funny. I miss you, my friend.

I will always be grateful for having Chris in my life, as we celebrated the Eucharist, toured the Holy Land, played golf and enjoyed Makers Mark. Although his tee off time came way to soon for all of us, he is now really Golfing with God. Chris was the perfect Vatican II priest.

My thoughts and prayers are with Fr. Chris' family. I was lucky enough to meet him while he was at Good Shepherd and I loved the two years of working with him in various activities there. He always had a big smile...and would come around to visit our faith formation classes. What a wonderful man and priest who touched so many hearts. He will be missed by so many. May God be with his family.

Our last trip was to Israel, and it is something I will always cherish, being able to see Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and all the sites where our faith started with Fr. Chris. He knew how to make history alive. I was able to talk with him the week before he died as he always ended every conversation with the words remember to pray for him. We are praying for him, but especially asking him to pray for us know that he is with God.
