HAVERHILL: Christine Marie “Chris” (Hansen) Havens, 73, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020, from complications due to colon cancer at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton.
Born on January 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Josephine Viola (Wilcox) Hansen.
Chris grew up in Revere, MA, and was a graduate of Revere High School class of 1964. She went to work for Household Financial Co. to help her mother and brother, but her real calling was to become a nurse. She attended Boston City Hospital School of Nursing where she completed her LPN training. Chris’s first job in nursing was at The Grover Manor Hospital in Revere working in the maternity ward. Her love of caring for mothers and babies was her passion. In 1980 Chris moved with her family to Haverhill where she started working in the maternity ward the city owned Hale Hospital, and worked there thirteen years until it closed in 2000. She then took a job with Brown & Chun OB/GYN Associate where she worked as office manager until 2016. Chris was able to work from home while caring for her grandchildren. Her most recent job was front desk receptionist at Benchmark Haverhill Crossings until 2020. Chris was a member of the First Baptist Church for 30 years where she taught Sunday school. Her faith was really important to her, and she enjoyed teaching children about God. Chris enjoyed going to oldies music concerts, reading mystery novels, mint tea, going to the beach, and spending time with family, especially her four grandchildren whom she love dearly.
Christine is survived by her husband Richard with whom she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in January; sons, Richard Havens, Jr and his wife Tammy of Haverhill, Paul Havens and his wife Melissa O’Bryant of Worcester; daughter, Carolyn Havens of Groveland; grandchildren, Joshua and Oliver Havens, Elliot Havens, Noah Trigilio, and several nieces and nephews whom she adored. Chris was the youngest of nine siblings including, Earl Hansen of Revere, George Hansen of Revere, and Willian Hansen and his wife Judith of Sarasota, FL. She was predeceased by Harold Hansen, Louis Hansen, Robert Hansen, Karen Corbett, and Catherine Patten.
Chris will be sorely missed by all who knew her as a kind, forgiving, and caring woman who was strong in her faith.

Chris: You were always a great sister in law, and a kind and lovely person. You’ve given me lots of sound advice over the years. Most importantly, you were a wonderful wife to my brother, and a wonderful mother to Richie, Carolyn and Paul. I will think of you every day, especially on our shared birthday. Rest In Peace. Love, Corinne.

Dear Richie and Family-I was so saddened to hear about your loss-and sad for us as we recall so many fine memories of Chrissy and Grammy visiting us on the farm as we were growing up. They always arrived with kindness and great smiles. Chrissy's heartfelt dedication to her family and faith in Christ were always apparent. Those trips down memory lane are all the more painful now. God bless you Richie.
