Christine Strommen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 11, 2023.
Christine Laurie Strommen, a longtime resident of Lakewood, WI passed away on November 8, 2023. Christine was born on May 23, 1951 to Robert and Shirley (Buckner) Salzer in Milwaukee, WI. She spent her childhood in Fox Point, WI and graduated from Nicolet High School in 1969. After graduation, she found her lifelong companion in David Strommen, marrying him on November 6, 1971.

Their adventures led them from their first home in Cedarburg, WI, to suburban Chicago, where they welcomed their first-born son, Bryan. After spending time in Kansas, they returned to the Chicago area where they welcomed their second child, Sarah. They ultimately settled in Elk Grove Village, IL where they completed their family with the addition of their daughter Carrie and their son John. Christine always dreamed of working in healthcare and pursued her passion, going back to school and becoming a respiratory therapist at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines, IL from 1979 until 1989.

In the summer of 1989, Christine and David once again followed their dreams and began a new chapter in their lives, purchasing Club 32, a restaurant/supper club in the beautiful northwoods of Lakewood, WI. There they shared 25 years of joy, raised their family, and made lifelong friends. Christine's culinary talents shone as she served as the supper club's chef. Her dedication to providing exceptional service and delectable cuisine created an atmosphere where laughter echoed, friendships blossomed, and memories were etched into the fabric of the place. Despite the demands of business ownership, she never wavered in ensuring a home-cooked meal awaited her family each evening.

Christine found delight in winter snowmobiling and spring beach vacations. Following the passing of her beloved husband, David, Christine moved to Woodstock, GA, where she was close to her sons, Bryan and John. There, she lived quietly and peacefully, embracing the warmth and comfort of being near her family. Her spirit thrived in the warmth of family gatherings and the joys of living a simple life.

She is survived by her children Bryan (Julie) Strommen, Carrie (David) Lennie, and John (Kathy) Strommen, along with five grandchildren: Michael and Lauren Strommen, Thomas Lennie, and Adelynn and William Strommen.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Shirley Salzer, brothers Robert (aka Bobby) Salzer and Timothy Salzer, husband David Strommen, and daughter Sarah Strommen. Christine leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories. May she rest in eternal peace.

I was a neighbor of Christine´s in Georgia. We would get together and talk. She was a beautiful lady. I miss her. May she rest in peace.
