Christopher “Chris” Douglas Nixon, 45, of Fieldale, Va., died on January 3, 2023, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born June 13, 1977, in Hartford, Conn., to Johanne Groll Nixon and the late Ralph Nixon, Jr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Pauline and Ralph Nixon, Sr., and Victoria and Henry Groll.
The proudest moments of his life were when he heard his little girl Charlie call him “Dad”. He was a loving and doting father to Charlie and being her “DAD” was the joy of his life.
In addition to his mother Johanne, Chris is survived by the love and light of his life, his seven year old daughter Charlie Marie Nixon; his twin sister Marie Nixon (Karen), sister Patti Johnson (Chipper), and his two brothers Ralph Nixon (Melanie) and Kelly Nixon (Cassie).
Chris was a great friend to many and enjoyed his work at Cornerstone. He was an organ donor and his selfless gift has already saved two lives.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Bassett Funeral Service chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00pm on Tuesday, January 10 at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Cline presiding. Burial will immediately follow in Henry Memorial Park, Bassett, Va.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charlie Nixon College Fund at Fidelity Bank in Collinsville.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.BassettFuneralService.com. Bassett Funeral Service is serving the Nixon family.

Where do I even start....... since we first met each other we've been close friends. Through the years we've had our ups and downs but we've always managed to work things out and build on our friendship. I consider you my Brother and you said the same about me. When Charlie came into your life, I saw a fire that I had never seen before in you. She is definitely a daddys girl and she had you wrapped around her pinky. I still can't believe that you're gone.......
But, It's not goodbye, it's I'll see you later Brother!

I met Johanne, Marie, and Chris working at Walmart. I was Chris’s boss in TLE he was full of life and a fun guy. We bonded in TLE and I watched him grow and develop into a loving and doting dad. Charlie was the love of his life and his life revolved around her. Chris and I were friends to the end. We could always call on each other. I already miss you so much Chris. And as I always said in my Facebook post “” Love me some Chris “”. ♥♥ Gone but not forgotten!!!
