Christopher Len Curry, 41, passed away unexpectedly on June 6 at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, GA. His husband, Jason Phoebus, the love of his life was by his side.
Christopher was born on September 6, 1975, in Bloomington, IN. He grew up with a large extended family with whom he enjoyed sharing holidays and events throughout his life. He was a graduate of Bloomington High School South and graduated from University of Miami in Miami, FL. He and Jason were married in New York’s Central Park on June 21, 2014.
Christopher spent more than the last 10 years of his career working in both audit and claims at Assurant in Atlanta, GA.
Christopher lived life to the fullest. He loved camping, fishing, hiking and anything that involved being outdoors. He spent many hours entertaining his nieces Carmen, Stella, and Lila Bays. Wherever Chris and Jason went, they took their faithful dogs, Bets, a rescued greyhound, and Tali, also a rescue dog.
When friends and family visited Atlanta, he thoroughly enjoyed being guide and host for all of them. He was even known to have planned scavenger hunts at important Atlanta sights and created personalized around town travel guides for first time visitors. He took great pride in his culinary skills and was always eager to throw together a dinner party or BBQ for family and friends. He was a joy to all who were lucky enough to be in his company. He packed more into his 41 years than imaginable.
Christopher is survived by his husband, Jason Phoebus, his paternal grandmother, Barbara Curry, his parents, Stuart and Sherrill (Lindsey) Curry, brothers Curtis and Kevin Curry, nephews Alec and Evan Curry, all from Bloomington, Uncles Phil and Jan Curry, of Austin, Steve and Marty Curry of Seattle, Bob and Valerie Lindsey of Bloomington, and Aunt Susan (Lindsey) and Al Velasquez, of Bloomington, cousins Niamh Curry, Lisa Webb, Sarah Curry, Lauren Bays, Courtney Hill, Anthony Lindsey, and Andrew Lindsey and their families.
If ever there was a person whose life should be celebrated, it was Christopher Curry. The party has already begun in Heaven, we are sure.

I had the pleasure of working with Chris back in 2006. I had taken a trip from CA to GA to spend time with him in person at the Assurant Office for a week. Afterwards we spent some time checking out the Atlanta hangouts. He was a great manager and kind hearted person. He will be truly missed.

All my prayers to his family and friends. Whenever I visited the Atlanta office, Chris was one of the first people I sought out for a smile, kiss and a hug. He always lit up the room with his smile and made everyone feel so welcome. He will be truly missed.

I didn't know you guys as well as I would have liked. But everytime we crossed paths you were both super friendly. Your love always showed. This is a great loss to our community and the world.

Although Chris was ten years younger than me his heart constantly reminded me to laugh, love, and live. He was the kind of guy that made me want to be more like him. He loved harder than anyone I have ever known. My love for Chris and Jason was deeper than either of them probably knew. He treated everyone like his best friend. I still can't believe he is gone from here but he is someone I can undoubtedly shine his light in my heart and memory forever. My prayer is that he will continue to be the light for others wherever he is but more that his husband and his family find peace in his absence.

Chris was a wonderful person. Funny, bright, nice, and a lot of fun. The world has lost a great soul but heaven has gained a worthy angel. To Chris's family you raised a great kid. To Jason, I'm sorry Chris was taken from you so soon. Your love for each other was clear to see and you would of been great parents together as you were great friends to me. I'm so very glad I got to see you both in April. All my love.
