Christopher Dameron Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 26, 2014.
Christopher Buxton Williams Dameron of Bullock, N.C. and Lexington, KY died Tuesday, December 23, 2014. He was 60 years old.

Christopher Dameron was born August 14, 1954 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was the middle child of the late Dr. Thomas B. Dameron and Nancy Jane Henry Dameron who survives him. He graduated from Broughton High School in 1972 where he played football. After high school he worked for several years for Carolina Crane. From a very young age he was fascinated with cars, and worked on his own as well as his friends cars throughout his life.

In 1981, he opened his own auto body and collision repair business, CBWD INC. In 1995 he graduated from the Auto Management Institute (AMI), and the same year he was awarded the Emil Stanley Merit Award. In 1996 he served as President of the Independent Garage Owners of North Carolina (IGO). He worked to increase the professional image of the industry and was a strong advocate of the International Auto body Congress and Exposition (NACE), for which he served as president in 2002. That same year he was inducted into the Hall of Eagles for his exemplary leadership and outstanding contribution toward the betterment of the Collision Industry.

In addition to his mother, Christopher is survived by his wife Julie, his three children Jacob Dameron, Sarah Dameron, and Christopher B. W. Dameron Jr., his siblings Thomas Barker Dameron Jr. and his wife Pamela, David Dameron, Rebecca Dameron and Nancy Almquist and her husband Hank.

A memorial service will be held Monday, December 29th at 2:00 pm at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, 2209 Fairview Rd. in Raleigh. The family will receive friends Monday prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 pm in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Lake Country SPCA in Clarksville, Virginia (7577 Business Highway 58, Clarksville, Virginia 23927) and the Wounded Warrior Project (4200 Morganton Road, Suite 300 Fayetteville, NC 28314).

We send our regrets and deepest sympathy to the entire Dameron Family. Chris was a wonderful advocate for all of us in the collision repair industry and a leader by example with his personal involvement in the associations that helped us all become better owners and operators. We are thankful to have known Chris and will always remember his contribution, along with great times Chris brought to all our association meetings and events.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of Chris Dameron. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Chris was a giant in the collision repair industry. A true leader.

It was my honor and privilege to have worked with him on legislation to benefit consumers and independent body shop owners for motor vehicle repairs.

Rest in peace Chris.

Chris was one of my best friends in high school. He was one of the funniest guys I've ever met. Since this time, I moved away to the Atlanta area and unfortunately we lost touch with each other. Chris was a very special person in my life and will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers out to Chris and his family.

We remember when Chris opened his shop in '81. Finally we had a place to send our customers' cars that needed collision repair, and Chris's operation definitely was first class. We followed his life through the years and helped Tom Jr. and Pam maintain their cars. Chris was a talented, and down to earth man, and his passing leaves a hole in may lives.

It is with deep sorrow that I read of the passing of Chris... We spent many days and nights together in an attempt to better the collision repair industry. Although it will not fulfill your loss, the Dameron family can never know how much the collision industry owes to Chris's efforts. He was truly an unselfish person who gave everything for his fellow man. I am saddened at the loss.
