Christopher Wayne Fontana

On November 5, 2017, there was a disturbance in the Force. Christopher Wayne Fontana, Jedi Knight and Funniest Man in Louisiana (2004) passed away and became part of the Universe that so fascinated him. Chris was born on November 3, 1978, to Wayne and Kay Fontana. He was the beloved brother of Allie F. Segura (John), Jenny F. Lewis (Ray) and his buddy Carol Fontana. Weird Uncle Chris (his preferred name) adored his four nieces … Kata, Margot, Anna and Alex. He was the beloved grandson of Juliet Higgins and the late Jack Higgins, and Beverly Fontana and the late Hector Fontana. He is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. Chris attended St. Pius "the X ten" elementary school, and was a graduate of Jesuit's class of 1996. He also attended numerous colleges. He had a passion for the Arts, especially comedy, and held various positions in the technology field. He avidly consumed many forms of literature and was a gifted writer. Chris could beat anyone at Jeopardy as well as "dance the pants off Churchill!" His time with us, though not long enough, is treasured. Those who knew him, surely shared a laugh … he was one of a kind, and he will be in our hearts forever. His exuberance for life was only matched by his love and loyalty to his family and friends. The Force will be with him … always. A memorial service was held Friday, November 10, 2017, in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, Father Patrick J. Williams Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to St. Michael Special School in his name or to the upcoming "Playing it Back" benefit for hurricane relief organized by dear friends.
