Chris was my doctor. He saved my hearing when I contracted Otosclerosis in my right ear. Because of him, my hearing went from 60 back to 25. I was his 1,000 stapedectomy and he told me my recovery was to be entered in the medical journal as an amazing recovery with this surgery. Not only a great doctor, but a great and compassionate human being. I am blessed for his abilities and I am blessed for knowing him. Rest In Peace, Chris. Your work will never be forgotten.

My mom and I just came across this, as Chris has been on our minds for some reason lately. This may be why. I will always cherish the memories of Chris introducing me to Thia food in Greenwich Villiage. To this day, I seek out good Thai restaurants wherever I go. Thank you. My mom, Rena and I are stunned and saddened to learn about Chris's passing and even though it's been 9 years, our hugs and condolences go out to Chris's family.

Dr Linstrom,
I remember telling you that extraordinary men, need to remember the limitations of those that surround them.

I was 13 years old when my father finally acknowledged the golf ball size lump behind my ear that had kept me up in pain for 5 nights straight. I went to my internist, Dr. Grossman, who gave me antibiotics and said we'd give it 12 hours tops. When the phone rang in the morning it was Dr. Grossman telling us he'd set up an appointment with Dr. Lindstrom that morning and to leave right now.
Dr. Lindstrom, after examining me, said there hadn't been case of what I had since WWII and the widespread use of penecilin. He then told me he didn't know how I was even standing, and he turned to my dad and told him most grown men would be passed out from the pain (boy did I feel so vindicated after being yelled at for a week that it was nothing).
Later that day he performed a 6 hour operation, having to work all around the facial nerve - but I woke up and, like the great doctor he was, he had not hit the facial nerve (which I what he has been waiting by my bedside to make sure of). My father became his patient for the next 20 years. He was kind, and gentle, and knew to talk to someone before doing anything. He also, to my recollection, never tried to downplay anything or tell me something wouldn't hurt when it would. It was a time I won't ever forget, and he is the star of my memory. Thank you Dr. Linstrom, my thoughts and prayers are with you and sending you Love.

I miss you Chris. We were friends for over 50 years, from our days at the Prep. One fond memory - our last evening together, dinner out and a musical comedy which some friends of yours from your Church were producing. We enjoyed the show and each other's company as always. Rest in peace, dear friend. You are remembered fondly and often.

I called the hospital to make an appointment with my favorite dr. when the receptionist told me that he passed away. I was so sad. He was beautiful, kind, generous, and humble. I did not have any serious medical issues with my hearing but I looked forward talking about life issues with him and learn just a little more about his medical work.

I miss Dr. Linstrom so much. The best, most caring doctor I ever had. I have not been able to find a doctor to treat my illness like him, not even close to the high degree of knowledge, expertise and compassion he processed. Because of my heavenly God and Dr. Linstrom, I was able to stop having vertigo and falling all the time. He was my doctor from Sept 1991 to Oct 2015, the last time I saw him for my follow up appointment. I wish one day, I could go over to the cemetery and put some beautiful flowers on his grave. He will always be in my heart. All my gratitude and love to his family.

I just found out about Dr Linstrom death.I was his patient for over 8 years he helped me and comfort me during all my surgeries. I was actually calling him to schedule an appointment for a follow up and got this terrible news. It will be really hard to trust any other specialist as i trusted him. I did not have the chance to thank him enough for everything he did for me . It is so sad.

Dr. Linstrom was a visionary, and pioneer. Most of all he provided my wife with the ability to regain her hearing after a total loss. We can't possibly express our sympathy, and gratitude for all he provided to my wife, and family. Most of all he was a kind, and gentle human being. So very sorry to learn of your passing. I am so very very saddened to hear about the death of Dr Linstrom. I agree with what so many have said, he was such a kind, caring man that took the fear out of more complicated ear surgery/conditions. I rate him in the top 1% of doctors I have ever been to. So very sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Christopher Linstrom. Our family will forever remember him as the gifted and compassionate surgeon who successfully performed cranial and bilateral ear surgery on my son during the past two years, following a near fatal motorcycle traumatic head injury. Chris and I grew up in Greenbelt, MD.
He once told me about his life in medicine. H said that when a patient had cancer he never had to say the word. He simply walked in and stood quietly by the bed. The patient knew.
Chris, I will always have the memory of that part of our childhood we shared. Rest in peace, Lecky

So shocked and brokenhearted by this news. Dr. Linstrom has been our son's doctor since our son was five years old. He is now 20. Every three months we would visit Dr. Linstrom and although the procedure our son had at his appointments was uncomfortable, Dr. Linstrom did his best to make him feel at ease. We always looked forward to seeing and chatting with Dr. Linstrom at these appointments. We loved his stories about his life and his family. He enjoyed talking with my son about baseball and encouraging him to pursue his dream. He would always say to Kev, "someone's got to do it!" We so admired Dr. Linstrom's expertise, knowledge, kindness, caring, and compassion. Please know this is s huge loss to our family. We loved him and will miss him beyond words. We send our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Dr Linstrom. He had been my husbands doctor, than my daughters and then mine. He is really a part of our family history. He was such a gifted man. I was honored to have him as "our" doctor. We would talk about my husband who is deceased and he would always ask about my daughter during my appointments. He would tell me about his niece who works in the cosmetic industry as do I. He was such a kind, compassionate man. He will be greatly missed.

We met Dr Linstrom back in May of 2015. My daughter had a minor ear infection that started in February of 2015, Dr Lindstrom was our last resort as no one before him could figure out the issue. Finally after all the test results came back her only option was surgery, to say the least my heart sank the tears flowed freely. I was comforted by Dr linstrom who said everything would be fine. My daughter really got to like him even more on our follow up visits. He made her comfortable told her she was brave, he took him time explained in detail what he did what she had and all. I was happy..to say that my daughter has done a 360 after the surgery would be and under statement. When we got the letter today my daughter opened it since it was addressed to her and she was happy because she knew she would see him soon. But she came to me crying saying he had passed. We both sat and cried i told her he was her angel that made everything right for her before he had to go..we are deeply sad on hearing he is no longer her but grateful and thankful he came into our lives..you will be missed!

I was shocked to get a letter from Eye and Ear Infirmary today and I wanted to send my deepest condolences to Dr Linstom's family. I had had an appointment with him on February 4, and as always we talked about music, a shared passion, and I learned that we had recently gone to the same concert at Carnegie Hall, and I told him that I was sorry that I hadn't seen him there. It was always such a pleasure to see him, and talk to him.

We never had any professional contact with Chris Lindsrom, but we enjoyed meeting him when he would come to Michigan.
He once gave us a CD of his opera, "Faberge".
We admire his skill and determination at whatever he set his mind to.
Reading all these testimonials about his professional skill, combined with his humanity, gave us another insight into his life.

My condolences to the Lindstrom family. I knew Dr. Lindstrom as a patient. Although my appointments were brief, he always spoke greatly about his stories in Montreal. As a Montreal native, it was so wonderful to hear and made me a bit homesick at times. I came to Dr. Lindstrom after a striking incident from a walk-in clinic. Dr. Lindstrom treated me with respect and made me feel safe. He had a heart of gold and his presence in my life has been for the better. Dr. Lindstrom heard me and attended me with patience and kindness. With great care, he took the time he needed not only with me but with others. He was a brilliant Doctor. I will forever be grateful for his wisdom, compassion, and generosity that he has shared with me. He will be missed.

Farewell far too soon to a dear, loyal and inspiring friend who excelled at so many things. From our McGill days to many Broadway opening nights, the time passed so quickly. Who else could have written an epic musical on the life of Fabergé while pursuing a busy medical career? Such a lovely tenor singing voice, too. (A stellar role in The Mikado, fondly remembered.) Sincere condolences to the family from this recently retired theatre critic (and proud grandmother) who often let Chris have the aisle seat. He shall be sorely missed by all who knew him.

So terribly sad to hear this news about our dear classmate, Chris Linstrom!
I am certain that I speak on behalf of all the Medical Class of 1982 in offering my sincerest condolences to Christopher's family and friends at this most difficult time. At our McGill Medicine 25th anniversary reunion presentation in 2007, we were all witness to the tremendous contributions Chris has made to the field of cochlear implants, helping thousands of people with hearing disability throughout his outstanding medical carreer. I am very glad to have been his classmate and friend over our four arduous years of medical school. Chris leaves behind a great legacy and his family, colleagues, friends and old McGill alma mater should be tremendously proud of his accomplishments!
