NOFAL
Christopher Paul Nofal, 35, passed away on May 2, 2018. He was a talented attorney, computer genius and gifted pianist born to Charles and Carolyn Nofal on November 12, 1982 in Jacksonville, Florida. He touched so many lives and will be dearly missed. Chris excelled in academics and received numerous scholarships, honors and awards throughout his life. He was Valedictorian at St. Joseph Catholic School, third in his Bishop Kenny High School Class of 2001, and graduated with a Computer Engineering Degree with high honors from the University of Florida in 2006 where he was tapped by Florida Blue Key and Eta Kappa Nu. Upon graduation he worked for the United States Patent and Trademark Office where he served as a Patent Examiner for 5 years. He concurrently pursued a law degree graduating in the top 5% from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 2012. During law school, he was a Law Review Editor, clerked at the United States Attorney's Office, was a Judicial Extern at the U.S. District Court in Illinois and was named a Yale University Research Fellow. Chris was licensed to practice law in Illinois, the District of Columbia, the United States Patent and Trademark Office and a member of numerous legal societies and professional organizations. From 2012-2016 he was a litigation associate with Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, DC involved in patent and intellect property matters. In 2016 he accepted a Judicial Law Clerkship with the U.S. District Court in Texas endeavoring to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. Most recently he worked at the law firm of Regan Whelan Zebouni and Atwood. In addition to law, Chris enjoyed musical productions and immensely loved playing the piano. When he heard a song he liked, Chris could immediately compose a beautiful arrangement of the melody. He often played piano at church services, weddings, graduations, and other events. Chris also had a wealth of computer expertise. All you had to do was call Chris and he would make the time to resolve the PC related issue and enhance the computer efficiency. Survivors include his father and mother, his sister Kimberly, grandmother Josephine Ossi, his uncles and aunts Tom and Jean Ossi, Jeffrey and Kathy Regan, Pat and Lynn O'Grady, Robert Nofal, Kathy Nofal, and many cousins. The family will receive friends Sunday May 6, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at Hardage-Giddens Chapel, 4115 Hendricks Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 noon on Monday May 7, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Bernard Ahern, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. I was devastated to hear this news today. I worked closely with Chris when he was at Covington, and we spent a lot of time together during a trial in Iowa for John Deere. Chris was a great lawyer, and was a delight to work with. One night after trial he sat down at a piano in the hotel and played it like no one I have ever heard. Rest in peace, Chris. You will be missed.

Dear Charles and Carolyn,I was so sad to see Chris' name in the paper. I remember when he was nine years old and always helped me pick up his science projects off the floor so I could clean. He was very sweet. I am so sorry about your loss.

Almost 20 years ago, Christopher and I volunteered together at St. Joseph's VBS leading the music. He was a respectful, polite, and hard working young man, and a joy to work with! And, an absolute genius at the piano! I loved when he and his mom would play and sing at Masses together. I am saddened by this news, and am so very sorry for your loss! May Jesus wrap His loving arms around all of you at this difficult time.

Chris was in my Church Hstory class his sophomore year at Bishop Kenny. He was so eager to learn. He also challenged any test question I marked wrong. More often than not, he convinced me his answer should be given credit. I was not surprised to learn he became an attorney. His musical expertise was incredible. People still talk about the processional he composed and played at the dedication of St. Anastasia Parish. Chris was so much more than one of the best students and musicians I have ever known. He was one of the finest human beings I have ever known. Rest in peace with the angels and the saints, dear Chris. You made the world a better place.

Chris was initially my client in the early 2000s and over the years he became my friend. I was very proud of him for going to law school and I respected his intellect. He was brilliant, and I am saddened by his passing. My sincere condolences to his family.
