Christopher E. Preuitt
COLUMBIA — Christopher E. Preuitt, 35, Columbia, MO, disappeared March 23, 2017, while camping and canoeing on the Missouri River near Tadpole Island. It is believed he drowned in the river. His body has not been recovered.
He was born in Sedalia, MO, on August 23, 1981, son of Warren and Cheryl (Schlobohm) Preuitt. He graduated from Smith-Cotton High School and Sanford Brown College with a degree in Radiologic Technology. He was previously employed at Bothwell Regional Hospital, Sedalia, and Boone Regional Medical Center in Columbia. Chris married Gerrin Kribbs on May 16, 2012.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Gerrin (Kribbs) Preuitt and a son, Dawes E. Preuitt of the home, who was 5 months old at the time of Chris' disappearance. Also surviving are a sister, Kimberly Preuitt-Wallace and her husband Matt; niece, Josephine Preuitt; nephew, Thomas Preuitt; maternal grandparents, J.D. and Carol Schlobohm, all of Sedalia; and mother and father-in-law Teresa and Ron Kribbs of Hallsville, MO. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Everett and Evelyn Preuitt and maternal grandmother, Mary Lou Schlobohm.
Chris was a born-again Christian and a member of First Baptist Church, Sedalia.
Family was always a priority to him. He was a people person and related well with everyone he met, often showing the same love, care, and compassion for his patients and others as he did for his family. He had a gift of making people smile and laugh even when they were having a really rough time.
Chris was also a great lover of God's creation. His favorite pastime was camping, canoeing, hiking, and collecting rocks along the way. His camp fires were the best. He often found solace in the companionship of his dogs and the great outdoors, and retreated there whenever possible. "The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." Psalm 18:2.
A celebration of life service will be announced and held at a later date.

Warren and Cheryl and family, I am so sorry for this heartbreak in your lives. Chris was a sweet young man. He always found the time to visit with me when we would see each other.He was especially concerned when Bruce was in the hospital and always wanted to know
what he could do to help. His attentiveness was the best thing he could have done for Bruce. The Bible says the death of the saints is precious in the sight of the Lord. May God console your hearts. Anita

I'll never forget the time in 6th grade when Chris had thee Biggest bag of candy! He said he got it from a place called Mr. Bulky's in the mall in columbia and chuckled! I had never heard of it. Everytime i see the store to this day, i think of Chris Preuitt. I hate to see such a tragic thing happen to a really good and cool person. God bless you all!

I remember first meeting Chris in 1983 when Mom, Bill and I moved to Sedalia. He was a delightful joyful child and so happy when I pulled him in a wagon around the block. I didn't see Chris a lot through the years but when I did, he was always so sweet and kind. I'm at loss of words for the loss of his life and the void this creates in so many lives. I really don't know any kinder, or more loving parents than Warren and Cheryl and know they did everything they could in his life to be engaged and supportive. My heart goes out to them in this loss.
