Christopher Taylor Obituary
Born Oct. 13, 1971, son of the late Deborah Snyder Kelchner and Lester Taylor, Chris was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School and Mansfield University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Chris had been employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in several positions including the most recent of parole agent for the state Board of Probation and Parole for 12 years. Chris was a member of the FOP Lodge 63. He was a loyal co-worker who took pride in a job well done.
Chis passionately enjoyed outdoor activities, particularly fishing and hunting on Oneida Lake, as much as throwing a line into the Prompton Spillway. He made the best fried fish with his catch.
He was always proud of his two sons, from coaching their Little League teams to sending Christopher off to the Army and begin his adult life. Chris' main priority was to provide for his family.
He is also survived by his two sons, Christopher, Vilseck, Germany; and Alex, at home; two siblings, Steven Taylor, Dunmore; and Heather Taylor, South Carolina; mother-in-law, Catherine Whiting, Jermyn; brothers-in-law, Robert Whiting, Philadelphia; and Thomas Whiting and wife, Maribeth, Mayfield; nieces, nephews and great-nieces; many close friends and neighbors.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Battenberg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., Jermyn, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish, Jermyn, by the Rev. Shane L. Kirby, pastor. Interment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Those attending the funeral Mass are asked to kindly proceed directly to the church. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Prompton State Park, 202 Prompton Road, Honesdale, PA 18431. Please include "Chris Taylor Memorial Fund" in the memo line of checks or indicate the purpose for your donation if making online at www.friendsofprompton.com.

Chris was a special guy. He always made you laugh. He treated me like a kid brother and let me tag along on his and my brother's excursions. I am very sad to hear of his passing. Our deepest condolences to Chris' family and all his many friends. Like many here Chris and I grew up together and were very close. We went through high ponts and low points and always managed to make it through everything. Chris always had a smile on his face no matter what came his way. Although we have not spoken in awhile he has always been on my mind and in my heart. We have so many memories and stories of the past and the news of his passing is devasting.
