Christopher Ward Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2017.
Christopher S. Ward Sr., passed away suddenly Saturday, September 30th, at the age of 57.  Born in Bristol, PA, Chris is a lifelong Levittown resident and a true pillar of the community. Throughout life, Chris strived to be the very best as a father, son, grandfather, uncle, and accomplished businessman. With all of his success, Chris supported local businesses and always rooted for the underdog, and had a unique gift for making everyone he met feel special.  To the community of Levittown, Chris is most well known as co-owner of Bailey's Bar & Grille and Bailey's Plaza but to his friends, employees and family he was so much more. For those who had the pleasure of truly knowing him, they knew Chris as a humble, kind, and selfless man with a loving caring heart. He loved to make everyone laugh with his unique sense of humor but what made him happiest was being "Chocolate Pop-Pop" and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time down the shore in Chadwick Beach, NJ. Preceded in death by his brothers Kerry and Jeffrey Ward, Chris is survived by his parents Gloria (nee Bernatonis) Bertonis and her life companion Ed Weiser, and his father Eugene (Edna) Ward, his adoring children Danielle Ward, Sara (Joel) Werline, and Christopher S. Ward Jr., cherished grandchildren Brendan, Aubrielle, Averi, Skylar, and Gabriel, and siblings Patrice Wynne, Holley (Ray) Betz, and Jason Ward. Chris is also survived his long time companion Debra Hudanish, his ex-wife and best friend Anna Ward-Brown, long time friend Erin Scully, and his dear friend and mentor Ed Kramarz, as well as several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to Chris' Life Celebration on Tuesday, October 10th, from 5-8 PM and again on Wednesday, October 11th, from 9-10 AM, followed by his Funeral Service at 10 AM at the Beck Givnish Life Celebration Home, 7400 New Falls Rd., Levittown PA 19055. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army at www.satruck.com. To share your fondest memories of Chris, please visit www.lifecelebration.com

Can't say I knew Chris - I know none of his friends or family. I can say - I met him at the bar as a patron- on a couple of occasions. I was impressed with his ease of regard and genuine sense of humility. I extend my heart felt condolences to all who were fortunate to be associated with such a fine individual.

I am still shell shocked that Chris is no longer, physically, with us but I know his spirit will forever be with everyone's lives that he touched in his lifetime. Im so prvileledged to have had you in my life, as a friend, boss and big brother when i needed all of the above. Ill always remember that laugh, especially the ones that came with the shake of the head when my friends and i would act crazy after my shifts at Baileys. As well as your amazing forgiveness during the times that i caused any disappointment in our friendship. You were the most down to earth, caring, giving, non judgemental person that i had the pleasure of knowing. You will be sadly missed forever but remembered and thought of even longer, never forgotton! Love you Chris! Love, Michele Kurko Wadlinger, " Margits daughter.

To Dani & Family:
Obviously enough great things cannot be said about your father! He lived his life being kind and a pillar of strength.
We are thankful for him mentoring Bailey in the business world and for sharing his passion of martial arts with Mick. Although, most people who met him would easily say "We are lucky enough to have even known him."

You inherited his sweet and caring ways. You will always make him proud!

my favorite times speaking to chris was early in the morning before I would cut his lawn. he would be out cleaning up after his good buddy Duke (missed half of them} and he would stop and we would talk about life in general. Never forget the kindness and support he gave my wife while she had her bakery in Baileys plaza. He loved her blueberry coffee cake and rootbeer sno cones. Spoke with him two nights before he passed, and we laughed and had a great 15 minute conversation. I haven't cried in a long time but Tuesday, his lawn cut day, mine and my wifes tears helped water the grass. My heart goes out to his family and friends. miss you buddy.

I only met Chris as an adult about 6 years ago. My mom and dad would go to Bailey's and we were in town so we went there for dinner one night. My dad always commented on how nice Chris was and sure enough Chris was there that day and he came over and talked with us for a while. We reminisced a little about Levittown Pacific. You could tell my dad felt special, and that Chris made my parents feel that way when they went to Bailey's. Chris was an exceptional businessman and from all of the comments I've read about him, he was an exceptional man and person.

ONE OF A KIND!! THANKS FOR ALL OF THE MEMORIES ~ TARA & HARRY BAREUTHER

You helped raise me to be the woman I am today. We rarely agreed on anything. We debated the necessity to put the sound on for the Sixers in 2001/2002 when Iverson was making history. You said my love for the game made me biased and no one wanted to watch

You helped raise me to be the woman I am today. We rarely agreed on anything. We debated the necessity to put the sound on for the Sixers in 2001/2002 when Iverson was making history. You said my love for the game made me biased and no one wanted to watch them lol (semi-correct). We argued politics, poker, music and more. Our ongoing debate on running vs. walking was my favorite. We laughed...I rolled my eyes and we laughed. You went to every event that mattered to me. Life will not be the same without you in it. It's going to take 50 plus people to do what you did on a daily basis. The attribute I admire most is your empathy and drive. I only hope we can all care and work as hard as you did!

To the family of Chris, it is with a heavy heart that Levittown has lost an icon, Chris was a man that everyone loved. He had helped my family several times during medical issues. He took my Daughter Shavonne under his wing and treated her like a daughter. I will never forget you Chris, your kindness, respect, and mentorship to so many. May you Rest In Peace. To his daughters, please know that your Father is more thuan a Hero, but a legend that will never die. God Bless his Family.
