Claire I. Morrish, 78, of Wall, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015.

Claire was born and raised in Bayonne, and lived there for many years, before coming to Manasquan in the 1970's, and later to Wall. She was a proud alumna of Holy Family Academy, in Bayonne, and of Georgian Court College. She also studied at Seton Hall University and the University of Hawaii. Claire was a teacher for many years, at St. Paul's Grammar School in Jersey City, and later at John M. Bailey (#12) School, Bayonne, from which she retired. She volunteered with the American Cancer Society and the Belmar Library. She loved animals, and rescued and adopted several dogs during her lifetime. She was a friend and supporter of the Sisters of St. Joseph, and the St. Joseph Villa, and a parishioner at St. Denis Church, Manasquan.

Claire was predeceased by her parents, William and Irene (nee Lanktree) Morrish, and by her longtime companion, Edward Miros. She is survived by her cousins, Maureen Davis, Mary Jo Pierce/Anthony, Kathleen Spanarkel, Mary Beth Davis, Peter Davis, Katie Jones and Megan Spanarkel. In addition, Claire is survived by her beloved dog, Sammy.

Visitation will take place at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Sunday, February 8, 2015, from 3-6 P.M. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Denis Church, Manasquan, on Monday, February 9, 2015, at 9:30 A.M., followed by interment at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
