Clarence Fitch Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30, 2009.
Clarence Lewis Fitch Jr.

Clarence Lewis Fitch Jr., 54, departed this life on Saturday, December 26, 2009.

He was born on April 28, 1955, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to the late Mary E. Fitch and Clarence Lewis Fitch Sr. Clarence was a graduate of Charlottesville High School.

Over the years, he worked for Centel Telephone Company, Yellow and Access Cab companies and the City of Charlottesville Recreation Center until he became ill. He truly enjoyed working with the kids at the recreation center and was a positive influence in many of their lives.

Earlier this year, Clarence rededicated his life to the Lord. He enjoyed Sunday school and Bible study at Evergreen Ministries. He was an inspiration to those who knew him and often spoke what was on his mind.

Clarence is survived by three sons, Clarence L. Fitch III and Raymond A. Fitch of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Kevin L. Fitch and his wife, Sheika, of Lynchburg, Virginia, and their mother, Betty M. Fitch; and four grandchildren, who were the joy of his life, Jazmen, Malaysia, Trinity and Kevin Fitch.

He is also survived by one sister, Clarice L. Fitch; two brothers, Roy L. Fitch Sr. and Glenn A. Fitch of Charlottesville; a dear friend, Gladys Saylor; great-aunt, Ellen Evans of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two uncles, Robert Fitch of Nelson County, and Michael Fitch of New Jersey; two aunts, Mary Spence and Mary Brown, both of New Jersey; two nieces, Tanea and Katriece Fitch; two nephews, Roy L. Fitch Jr. and Marcus A. Fitch, all of Charlottesville; five great-nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Covenant Church of God, 1025 East Rio Road, with Pastor Stanley E. Woodfolk officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love, calls and prayers.

Condolences may be paid to the family at www.jfbellfuneralhome.com.

J. F. Bell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

My Deepest Sympathy to you all: I am so sorry.Clarence was such a good friend and I will never forget him. I worked at the airport and he would come in and talk and smile. When ever I see him he would always smile and say " hello pretty lady. If I was standing at the bus stop waiting on the bus Clarence would not drive by if he sees you he would STOP pick you up and never ask for any money, He will be truly miss, I know he is with the Lord and God has picked another one of his flowers to keep with him. Keep your head up and God will touch all of your hearts. I know that your hearts are heavy but Clarence has gone home to be with the Lord and your Mom and Dad. May God watch over each one of you. He will be truly miss. Doreen Wells (Dodie)
