Cletus Fields Obituary

Cletus A. Fields, 81, of 528 Henrietta St., Pekin, Ill., passed away at 11:28 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at Hopedale Medical Complex. Born Nov. 6, 1929, in Lexington, Ala., to Louis S. and Zora (Glover) Fields, he married Myria J. Williams on May 15, 1952, in Iuka, Miss.
Surviving are four sons, Gary (Vicki) Fields, of Green Valley, Tony (Patricia) Fields, of Easton, Kenny (Janet) Fields, of South Pekin, and Keith (Beth) Fields, of Rogersville, Ala.; three daughters, Nancy Walker, of Pekin, Debbie Schraub, of Norris, and Gina (Arnold) Walker, of Pekin; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildre; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Lois Trousdale, of Lexington, Ala.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning three Bronze Stars.
Cletus worked as a welder for Caterpillar Inc. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1987.
He loved telling stories of days gone by and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no visitation or funeral. Arrangements were entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes and Crematory in Pekin.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Hopedale Medical Complex at 107 Tremont St., Hopedale, IL 61747.
