Clifford Floyd Patterson

Clifford Floyd Patterson St. Albans Clifford Floyd Patterson died July 19, 2010. He was born March 17, 1924, to Earl Patterson and Charlotte Abner in Burlington, Vt. His mother Charlotte Abner passed away when he was four years old and he was placed in the Warner Home for orphans. During his early time he went out to work on various live in farm jobs in Vermont. After being married, he continued his farm employment in Vt. and Conn. In 1961, Clifford and his family began building the home in which they still reside to this day and in 1962, returned to Vermont to live permanently. His most recent employment was as a maintenance man at Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans and retired after seventeen years of employment. His hobbies included drawing, his birds and wood working, and his dogs. Clifford is survived by his wife, Shirley Patterson whom he married on January 21, 1952 and they celebrated 58 years of marriage this past January. He is also survived by his children Clifford and Trudy, Debbie and Marcel, Louie and June, Alford, Delia and Eddie, Bobby, Ricky and Penney, Lynn and Johnny. 28 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren yet to be born 1 great-great grandchild and 1 great- great grandchild yet to be born. Also, two special people, who he considered as sons and were very important in his life Allen McCormick, and Jimmy Bluto. Also Surviving are his sisters and brother in laws Anita Honsinger, Ronnie and Dorothy Gignac, Bill and Gernaine Zweeres, numerous nieces and nephews, with one very special niece Anita Beaulieu Honsinger, his very special friends, Emerson Barrette and Rob Rainvillie. He was predeceased by his daughter, Rebecca Patterson in October 1991, Zeus, his beloved canine companion, in March 2009, also, by his sister, Rebecca Short. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010 in The Church of the Rock. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of Flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Franklin County Grey Hound Association, Fairfax Road, St. Albans, VT. 05478.
