Cory C. Wendt, age 29, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died on Saturday, July 8, 2006 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Funeral  services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 14, 2006 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City with Pastor Gary Cumings officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM on Thursday July 13, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.  Interment will be in Burr Oak Cemetery, Union Grove Township, MN.
Cory Curtis Wendt, the son of Curtis and Deborah Garding Wendt, was born on May 28, 1977 in Litchfield, MN.  He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City, MN.  He was married to Emily Kotrba in July of 1999 to 2004.  Cory attended high school in Grove City and Paynesville, graduating in 1995.  He graduated from college in St. Cloud in 2005 and was trained in Law Enforcement and as a firefighter.  When Cory was in Grove City he helped with the family business.  He also worked as a security officer, a prison officer in Arizona, installed car stereo equipment and was a fire fighter, which was his calling.  He enjoyed working with special need children and was involved in the Big Brother mentoring organization.
Cory is survived by his parents Curtis and Debbie Wendt of Grove City; brother Eric Wendt of Grove City; grandparents Marcellus and Mary Lou Garding of Paynesville and Sylvia Wendt of Litchfield.   He is also survived by his aunts Judy Johnson of Litchfield, Linda and Tom Schaefer of Phoenix, AZ and LaNette and Jeff Bremseth of Forest City and former wife Emily Kotrba.  He is preceded in death by grandfather Freeman Wendt, and an uncle Bud Watkins.
