Courtney Bullaboy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 19, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of E. Courtney Bullaboy (55), who went to be with the Lord on the morning of July 17, 2025.

Elizabeth Courtney Bullaboy was born on August 18th, 1969 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Anna Zimmerman Bullaboy and Charles Allen Bullaboy.

Courtney graduated from Norcom High School as class valedictorian in 1986. She went on to attend William & Mary University for a time (as a biology major) before getting married and becoming a mother to three sons. She had a special fondness for Miniature Pinschers; enjoyed gourmet cooking; attending teas; collecting fascinator hats and purses; and finding unique jewelry.

She was a very gifted piano player, often playing for Redeemer Lutheran Church in Portsmouth and multiple other public functions. She was an active member of the Virginia Tea Society and also volunteered at the Hunter House Museum in Norfolk, VA. Her true passion was history, particularly the Victorian Era.

She is predeceased by her mother, Anna Bullaboy. She is survived by her father (Charles Bullaboy) of Suffolk, brother (C. Allen Bullaboy) of Suffolk, sons: John Berlin of Suffolk, Aaron Berlin (Rebecca) of Lynchburg, David Berlin (Lizzie) of Surry, grandchild: Ezekiel ("Zeke"), and multiple "granddogs."

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Portsmouth https://redeemerportsmouth.com/index.html or The Hunter House Museum in Norfolk https://www.hunterhousemuseum.org/general-6

A brief memorial service and "Celebration of Life" for Courtney will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church (1901 Airline Blvd, Portsmouth VA 23701) on Friday, 07/25/2025 from 5:00-7:00pm. Friends and family are welcome to attend.

Courtney is now with her Heavenly Father and mother at peace, bliss, and perpetual rest. She leaves 3 talented sons with us as they create their own legacies for all to cherish. I will miss our talks about life and the Lord, and most especially, your delicious flounder dinners. May God forever bless you and your family.
Your friend, Joe Lovera

Courtney will be sorely missed by all the members of the Virginia Tea Society. She loved afternoon teas and all they encompass. She was a dignified and fashionable woman with a quick wit and smile for all she met. She also had a way with words in her notes and messages. Thank you, Courtney, for being a friend. You left us too soon.

Courtney was such a special person and a true light in the world! I loved being in the Virginia Tea Society with her, and her knack for dressing to the 9´s to coordinate with our themed teas was unmatched by anyone! She was so kind and such a woman of faith, as well as being so talented in her piano playing! She also never missed an opportunity to write a thoughtful, heartfelt letter or note when we she could, which I so appreciated. We suffer her loss here on Earth, but Heaven has truly gained an angel in calling Courtney Home!
