Craig Wright Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 5, 2017.
Craig was one of those rare and remarkable people that enriched the lives of every one he touched. He brought love, smiles and happiness to people he met all over the world as he lived his life to the fullest with a thirst for adventure and travel.

Craig was born June 21, 1988, in Springfield, Massachusetts and grew up in Massachusetts and Maine. He graduated high school from Williston Northampton School in 2007. He then went on to permanently relocate to Florida, first for college at the University of Tampa where he earned a bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship, and then graduate school in Miami where he earned a master's degree in Hospitality Management at the Florida International University. Tampa and Miami were his homes ever since and where he has more friends than anyone could even begin to count. He seemed to know everyone everywhere, and everyone loved him.

Craig was a lover of all animals, especially horses and kitties. He was a kind and gentle soul that animals could sense and felt very comfortable around him. He was so proud of his recently acquired horse, named Anna that would soon make her new home with him and Bob on their farm in Tampa. Craig traveled more in his short life than most anyone we know and made friends around the world. The entire world is heaving deep sobs over a life tragically taken too soon.

We found this list on a lined piece of paper in Craig's handwriting among some of his things - almost like a To Do list. Yet, if you knew him, you know this wasn't a bucket list or a list of things he wanted to do, but instead these are among the things he most loved in life; the things that brought him joy.

I met Craig for the first time during his stay in Leipzig in 2014. I showed him around the city. I loved his warmth and his smile. We liked a song very much and were listening to it in the car. (When The Beat Drops Out - Marlon Roudette).

I will miss you, Craig.

Thoughts and prayers to his mom and dad and to all who loved him.

I know you are the morning sunrise at Turbats creek.

I too met Craig on his new horse farm. We hit it off like two peas in a pod. As I left that day, I said to myself, "I have a new best friend". As others I am sad to hear of this loss. Heaven has a new angel smiling over us. Craig, I will miss the horse back riding we spoke of.

Through my friendship with his mother, I have known Craig since he was a small child. We will all miss him very much. I hope he is at peace and is able touch the people who meant the most in his life. He leaves a loving mother who provided everything a child could ever want. Through all the ups and downs of life, Dale was there with the most pure example of unconditional love. The best of Craig came from his mom and I hope he will be able to find that love and hold on to it for eternity. Our prayers are with you.

Craig and I met at FIU and immediately became lifelong friends. When Craig graduated and was off to travel the world, I furnished my apartment with all of his things... Literally. I vowed to hold them for him as long as he wanted me to. As hectic as his life became traveling, he frequently came to visit me in the keys and always responded to phone calls to catch up. He was professional, personable, and a always a pleasure to be with. I am heartbroken. My deepest condolences to his family and many friends. Jaime Sue Wilson

Dear Billy and Anita,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Craig was one of the most caring, loving and sweetest individuals that I ever had the pleasure of meeting.
He would come into the office and his smile would simply light up the room. He would sit and chat with everyone to get updates on how they were doing. Craig told me of his great love for horses and he would ask me about my bunnies. He was a wonderful person.
May he rest in peace.
God bless

So many people loved Craig, and that love made him into a kind, loving person. Craig's Mom, Dale Squires spent countless hours with Craig as he started caring for his own horses, teaching him responsibility in taking care of the horses, giving him a sense of pride. I am so sorry for the loss of a wonderful human being, Craig, and my thoughts and prayers go out to Dale Squires, Bill & Anita Wright and family.

There are people who come into your life and leave the most beautiful mark...who live and love with a kind of truth and generosity that reminds you to share that kind of love with others - and with yourself. I'm so sad to write that my dear friend is gone...I am beyond blessed that you chose to share your love, time & friendship with me. I miss you, my other little brother, and wish we could be there to celebrate your life. Hugs to all of you who had this wonderful man in your life.

Craig was such a kind person with a larger than life spirit and energy. It is heartbreaking to hear that he is no longer with us. While I didn't regularly stay in touch with Craig, whenever I saw him it was like picking up right where we left off - he was a genuine person who always made an effort to say hello and catch up. I had the pleasure of meeting Craig when we worked together at Shore Club years ago, and we frequently ran into each other out and about in Miami. He had a mission to work with a water charity and help raise funds for the environment. His life ended far too soon and his heart was always in the right place. I offer my soncerest condolences to the Wright family and hope that they find strength in this difficult time. Rest In Peace, Craig, and know that you touched many lives in your short time here on earth.

Craig, when we first met you as a young boy., you joined us for dinner with dad and Anita. You were about 14. So tall already and so handsome. You were so young but your warmth and personality were the center of conversation. That warmth, passion and love for life grew with you into adulthood. One time when you were visiting as we sat around the pool, you said "I am so lucky my dad is the greatest and Anita is a special mom." We cheered your accomplishments with mom and dad as they were so proud. We will close with mentioning your smile!, how could we not! Your smile lit up a room when you entered and is the first thing that stands out brightly in any photo of you. So, Craig, we too will smile when we think of you now and always. Love, and may peace surround your beautiful soul. Love, Linda and Jim

I was so sad when I heard the passing of Craig. I will always keep the memory of our canoeing on the Maine ocean & camping on the island under the stars. He was brave to sleep without a tent. May your good memories be with you always.

Craig & Mary Ahlquist

June 6, 2017

I'll share two memories, one recent, one older. The older first - several years ago, Bill, 'Little Craig' and I went for a day of spring skiing at Wildcat mountain in NH. The weather was beautiful, looking right into Mt Washington and Tuckerman's ravine. In order to get the best picture, we ducked under a closed trail rope. We snapped our pictures and of course, on our way out got scolded by ski patrol for being on a closed trail. Oh well.
The second, more recent memory is Craig acting as travel guide for us. We were headed to Berlin, Prague and Munich last fall. Craig was visiting New England and one of his stops was to our place in NH. We told him about our upcoming trip - all places he had been - and proceeded to give us all the insider info he had gained. Prague is known for its mixology. One of the famous bars is Hemingway's, a place the author frequented. As we were sitting in Hemingway's, I was texting with Craig, him giving me suggestions from the extensive drink menu.
These and many other memories will keep him alive and well in our hearts.
May you rest in peace Little Craiger (aka Shep). Love - Craig and Mary Ahlquist
