Carrying your love and your memory with me in my every day.
Your presence is missed here, but I know your influence continues to keep you alive in the lives of others.

Miss you so much, but I'll see you again - and that's the most amazing part.
Thanks for watching over us.
Love you always.

You are very much alive in many ways, Crystal.
The influence and impact you had on those around you is a part of who they are ... who they will become ... as you live as a part of each person's history.
You are not just here in memory ... you are alive in the people whose lives you changed for the better.
Some truths about you ....
Yours is a soul of giving ... not taking.
As a teacher, you believed in justice and what was right ... and you treated those who were misdirected with compassion and instilled them with self-worth and a sense of direction.
As a person, you treated those around you with respect and dignity.
You were open and honest and straight forward.
As for now, it is without doubt, that you are an angel ... watching over those who need you.

Just a note to let you know that you are very much alive in the hearts of many people, Crystal.
Time is not erasing you.
You're being here is still happening.
Your presence is still strong ...

I must have sat down to write this, to read this 100's of times, and I can't seem to get past the first two or three sentenaces and then I pause and freeze up and I cant got any further.

I think back to all your adventure's you have had and its clear that this is how you defined your life, you lived each day, as an adventure and now you are going to experience the biggest most exciting adventure that there is.

Your spirit and your grace has touched everyone around you and will continue to touch everyone for years to come. You are and forever missed but you will never be forgotten.

No goodbye's, just good memories and until next time ...

Hugs and Lotsa Love
Mikey.

p.s

picture it, Anaheim 1991, two young cousins are standing on the balcony of there hotel room, overlooking the wonder that is Disneyland. Their parents are diligently preparing for a long trip home after what proved to be the most exciting trip ever. Sadend the two cousins beg and plead with their parents not to leave, a fruitless endeavour but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Quietly the two cousins plotted, how to make this happen, how to stay in Disneyland permantley, then it happened, the building shook, the world spun, chairs rocked and tables vibrated, they experienced their first earthquake. In this moment the plotting and the dreaming turned into fright and thus turned into one mission, WE WANNA GO HOME!!!!!!

Those two cousins were Me and Crystal and that is one of my most cherised memories.

As a nurse, you learn to deal with death as a inevitable outcome to some patients illness. Crystal was a remarkable young lady, wise beyond her years facing this horrible reality with her wonderfly supportive family. Not once did I see her lash out at them or us as caregivers whilst she was on 2 North. Her courage and faith was her strength and she has made me a better person for knowing her. Heaven now has a new angel. Lorraine Knappett RN.

Dear Crystal. I can hardly believe that you are gone. I know that God has healed you and taken you into His comforting arms. But I miss you and can’t help thinking that you were taken out of this world too soon, while you had so much life left to live. You were a beautiful person with a loving heart. You were my friend since we were small. You took care of me when I was alone in a new school, and you taught me important things about life. Even as a child, I loved watching what a wonderful, protective big sister you were to Matthew. You were always very wise, loyal and responsible. I plan to raise my children to have your beautiful spirit. I know that you were the kind of teacher who truly loves her students. You made a difference in the lives of all those children, and you made a difference in my life too. I am a better person for knowing you, and I will not forget you. I take comfort knowing that we will meet again. Barb, Lorne and Matthew, I am so sorry for your loss. You raised Crystal to be the compassionate, intelligent woman she was. Her time here made an impact on so many people.

Ms. Nilsen will be deeply missed in my son's class. She has an amazing spirit and was such a gift. I will always remember when Keanan came home and was so excited to share that Ms. Nilsen read 'Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" and he wanted that book so bad. For Christmas he received 3 of the Pigeon books that Ms. Nilsen introduced and even tries to read like she did. She will be deeply missed and we are so blessed to have met her. We send our prayers to her family and trust that God has another purpose for Ms. Nilsen. With many blessings - Alicia, Dave and Keanan Stark.

Crystal's spirit is alive in each person that knew her ,,, even if their knowing her was in only in some small, seemingly insignifigant way. She stood out from most in that she was authentic and compassionate and humble and always willing to give our most precious resource ... her time.
I am only one among the many who I know that silentty admired the spirit that she is ... the spirit that is still here.
Lorne and Barbara ... seek peace inside yourselves in knowing that you are amazing parents. I know this because she spoke highly of you both to me on more than one occasion.
She carried what you instilled in her inside herself and because of that many people ... adults ... but even more importantly children ... are ... even if only in some small way ... a little better for having experienced the presence of her.
I wish you peace. I know that God will bring your family the calmness that you need ... because it is the two of you that He chose to trust with her.

My heart is with you,
Bob Davies

Ms. Nilsen was my Grade 6 teacher at Gordon Greenwood Elementary on Mondays and Tuesdays last year. I have fond memories of our chats about Super Mario Brothers, Sims and many other things. I use to love to sit right beside her desk with Matthew C. I remember when I gave her Sims 3 and she wrote me a lovely thank you card. I will miss Ms.Nilsen dearly as she was much more than a teacher to me. I love you Ms. Nilsen. - Chloe Barrick

Dear, sweet, wonderful, bright, beautiful Crystal. How appropriately you were named. The world was a better place because of you and many children and people were touched by your incredible spirit. As the stirring of the butterfly’s wings are felt all over the world, your energy was felt and will be felt like ripples on the pond or ocean waves upon the shores of Hawaii....for generations to come. I think people were just a little better for having met you. And, I think almost everyone remembers their first grade teacher....I know I do and I know my son does. The impact you had on those children's lives will be felt for generations. I will never forget the time we spent together when I visited in Kelowna and you and I went to see the movie, "The Notebook" together.....we wept at the loss of a loved one to Alzheimer’s....your compassion and wonderful heart were revealed to me that day and I feel so blessed to have had that time with you.
You are and will always be a real treasure....a real Crystal - strong, wise, - bringing balance and purity, wisdom, and goodness on every level. You will be missed but never forgotten! As you live on in our hearts and the hearts of those whose lives you touched even if but for a moment....
With all my love, your great aunt
