Cyril Berry

Cyril Berry, 86, of Norman, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at his residence.
Born April 10, 1928, in Letcher County, Kentucky, he was the son of James Berry and Pashie Maggard Berry Boggs, both of whom preceded him in death. On Aug. 22, 1945, in Kentucky, he married Lizzie Lumpford, and she preceded him in death Feb. 15, 2013.
Cyril retired from General Motors Corp. after 30 years of employment and was an active member and volunteer of Norman Conservation Club and Brownstown Senior Citizens Center. He also was a member of Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Church in Freetown.
Survivors include three sons, Cyril (Christine) Berry Jr. of Saline, Michigan, James E. (Jane) Berry of Madison, Mississippi, and James L. Berry of Norman; two daughters, Linda Fay (Fritz) Daniels of Carleton, Michigan, and Cora Lucas of Norman; one brother, Cecil (JoAnn) Berry of Franklin; three sisters, Frances (Ed) Baronowski of Florida, Jeannette Kilbourne of Michigan and Yvonne (Doris) Clark of Florida; 12 grandchildren, Cyril Matthew Berry, Cheryl Berry, Connie Berry, Clinton Berry, Eric Daniels, Lizabeth Daniels, Jennifer Horner, James E. Berry Jr., Shannon Reed, Amanda Spradley, Rickey Welsh and Marshall Lucas; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruby Maggard, Iona Scott, Eulene Whitehead and Wilma Kilbourne.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Church with Arnold Bates officiating. Burial will be at Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Cemetery in Freetown.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc. in Brownstown and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
