Even I had not meet him personaly, I heared many great things on him through his daughter Diane Cowel. And when I analyse how is Diane, her level of humility and humanity, I can only attest that he was a great man. For he taught his daughter and his family values.
May his soul rest in peace with pride for having left a good mark on the earth.

I am really glad to have a chance to say one more thing about the great guy who was Dale Cowell. I didnt know him as well as his teammates, but I knew him well enough to like and admire him. He was a gifted, talented guy, who never looked down on anybody else; in fact, he was like our own Will Rogers, he liked everybody! I never heard him say a bad word about anybody he knew. There is a word that is almost never used today, because it is too old fashioned, but it is a word which is still sometimes used to describe great sports figures, who carry their greatness lightly and were always real personsgentlemen. Dale always was that in the best sense of the word. Im very glad I encountered him.

My Dear Sweet Brother,
Difficult to describe our close relationship and the respect, love and admiration which will remain in my heart forever. You are a fighter Dale, strong body and mind. We knew all of your thoughts and words. Thank you for teaching me by example your goodness and kindness which you so displayed towards family, friends and whomever you met.
In a letter written to Christopher,"Your relationship with God is so important, practicing the values you have been taught by your family. Everyone is tested at some point in time during their life and we don't always know the reason why things are happening. At these times it is utmost important to dig deep into our souls and have faith that God will be there for us,taking care of us,loving us, and protecting us"." A sign of God's will is that we will be led where we do not plan to go".
Yes, gone way too soon Dale, yet our loving God has wrapped his arms around you and has welcomed you HOME! Missing you each day Love, Diane

Dale made the world a better place by his passing through it. To know him was to like him. He always had a most remarkable and sincere concern for others. His smile said it all--He was both strong and good in the best sense of the word. None of us who knew him will ever forget him. I'm heartbroken that I will be in Philadelphia during the wake and funeral, and unable to attend. I will going to Mass for him all week to be with you in spirit for Dale, a wonderful guy. My appreciation for Dale--my prayers and sympathies for you all.--Dan Cheely

A great testament to Dale was how many people missed him and said wonderful things about him at our recent Fenwick High School Class of '67 reunion. He clearly affected many of his classmates in a very positive and powerful way; he will indeed be remembered.

I would like to send my condolences to Dales family and Susan. My late brother Ray Brown was a fraternity brother. The fact that I remember his name after 45 years, is indicative of how much my brother thought of him! I know that he liked and deeply respected Dale, or I would not have heard mention of him - I was the little sister... You are in my prayers!

Most of my memories of Dale go back to earlier times in our Galewood neighborhood. Being the older brother of my best and dear friend, Chris, he was always a little bigger than life: friendly, outgoing, personable, good looking, hard working, football star.
In later years, we reconnected and shared some wonderful times, in Evanston, Elkhart Lake, and visits to our home in North Carolina.
Chris and Dale shared a special brother sister bond that included everything...helping and supporting each other, always. Christine was a tower of strength these last years, doing all she could to make Dale feel as safe and comfortable as possible. Dale's passing will be a tremendous loss for Chris and all who loved him.
Mike, I, and our North Carolina family send our love and most sincere condolences to the Cowel family.

Dale Cowel was a prince of a man. I met Dale 30 years ago while living across the street from his sister Diane in Evanston, and around the corner from his sister, Christine. I was able to share happy, fun times with him at one of his favorite places on earth, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Dale was an intelligent, gracious and charming gentleman. I will be forever grateful I could call him my friend. He will always be remembered as a kind, sincere and lovable man who adored his sisters and would do anything for them. My heart goes out to the Cowel sisters and their families and his family. This is a huge loss for many. I will never forget handsome Dale, his wonderful smile and sweet and gentle nature. God bless you, Dale.

Diane and Chris: I am so sorry to hear about Dales passing. I loved running into him in the Board of Trade and talking to him. He was a great guy. God rest his soul.
