Dalton Broussard Obituary

Dalton Joseph Broussard Sr., age 88, was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Milton, La. He went home to be with his Lord and savior Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009.

His family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon today at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel, with Jack Wilhelm officiating. Burial will be in Barton Cemetery.

Dalton was a Christian and a member of Highland Park Church of Christ. He was a retired chemist from TVA, a member of Kiwanas and a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in the southwest Pacific. He was an avid LSU football and Atlanta Braves fan. His favorite pastime hobby was fishing, bird watching and spending time with his family. We love you Dalton, and you will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Blankenship Broussard; parents, Eris and Rosa Broussard; brother, Daily Broussard; and infant daughter.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Broussard; son, Dalton Broussard Jr, (Joann), of Tuscumbia; stepson, Alfred Davis, of Cleveland, Tenn.; grandchildren, Dalton Broussard III, Anna Wilbanks (Ray), of Tuscumbia, Donna Bird (Jeff), Steve Davis, of Cleveland, Tenn., Shelia Rose (Scott), of Charleston, Tenn., John Davis (Chris), of Loretto, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Chandler Wilbanks, Charly Ann Wilbanks, of Tuscumbia, Bristol Bird, Brayton Bird, Stratton Rose, of Cleveland, Tenn., and Cainon Fox, of Loretto, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to thank Alacare Hospice, Becky Williams and Stephanie Pride for all their special care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101 or to Mike Brooks missionary work at Highland Park Church of Christ.

Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
