It is with heavy hearts, that the Marce family announces the passing of our beloved Dan. After a tragic accident while vacationing with his wife and friends, Dan was brought home to Regina late Tuesday, and passed away a few hours later with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife Jan; his sons Dallas (Michelle), Kelly (Jennifer) and Joel (Ashley); his grandson Ben; his close cousin Mel (Irene); and his brother-in-law Doug. Dan loved Regina, it was where he grew up and spent most of his life, and where he was an active member of the community. Dan loved sports and was an avid fan and loyal to Saskatchewan Roughriders, Detroit Red Wings and Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as an enthusiastic participant and coach in various local baseball and hockey teams. He was an enthusiastic golfer, enjoying both the game and its social elements, he looked forward to his weekly games with the guys. Dan married the love of his life, Jan, on April 23rd, 1971. Professionally, Dan worked for Cairns Homes for over a decade, the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the mid 80's and again in the early 90's, Crown Management Board and Printwest from 1997 to 2011, where he produced books on the first 100 years of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the 1966 and 1989 Roughriders Grey Cup championship teams and a book on the legendary Roughrider player, George Reed. Dan had a lifelong passion for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was a dedicated volunteer serving on the Board of Directors from 1993 to 1999, Plaza of Honor Dinner Chairperson, Executive Producer of the Plaza of Honor Dinner from 1993 to present, and as Chair of the Plaza of Honor Selection Committee from 1992 to 2006. The Roughriders were a true labour of love for him. Dan was an extremely loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend, and an exceptionally kind and generous person, who will be dearly missed by the many, many people who loved him. Dan's Funeral Mass will take place at Christ the King R.C. Church, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina, SK on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. His remains will be interred at a later date in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, we welcome anyone so inclined, to make a donation to the Parkinsons research of Dr. Ali Rajput, a cause very dear to Dan. Attended Central with Danny my most vivid memory is a permanent smile. Danny was always smiling! I have lived in Vancouver for some time and we did not have much contact until a few of us got together in Regina in 2006. Danny and Jan were such gracious and warm hosts and they showed us such a special time and demonstrated first class heartland hospitality. It was a weekend that will stay with me always! In the morning Danny took me to a few places to meet people and I became aware and envious that Danny was connected to Regina and the community in a very special way. I have moved around to various cities and Danny has lived and was committed to Regina. Danny roots ran deep to family and connection. I shared with him that I envied his connection and commitment to community and was quite honest with him that I was feeling that I had missed something very important! Danny mentioned, in passing, that he was golfing with 45 guys in a few days. My reply was "Danny I don't even know 45 guys let alone golf with them"! Though this tragedy happened many years ago I write this now as I feel it is important the you know that you and Danny are still in my thoughts Jan.

I just learned today of Danny's passing and my heart goes out to you and your family. I have great memories of Danny from High School and throughout his life. He will always be remembered as the kind, caring, fun and compassionate great guy that always had a friendly hello and a big smile for everyone he met. As I'm reading these wonderful tributes to Danny from people "world wide" it shows the tremendous impact he had on a vast number of people. I'm in Thailand and just heard of Danny's passing from my good friends, the Petersmeyers. I have not seen Danny for many years....actually since High School, but I remember him as though it was yesterday...what a guy! Sincere condolences to Jan and his family. Dear Jan: We were shocked to hear the news of Danny's tragic passing while we were on vacation. We take comfort in knowing you will be supported during this time of reflection and sadness by your family and the many friends Danny and you have made over your life together. Danny and I always discussed the fortunes of the Dodgers whenever we got together whether that was after the Crawler -Tuneup slow pitch games, Rider games or at Hawgarama. He always went out of his way to chat with you. One of Danny's many great attributes. I had the pleasure of working with him on many Rider dinners when I was at the Exhibition and he was always the true professional in every aspect of his business and volunteer ventures. Dolores and I just returned from the USA. We were kept up to date by Travis during this ordeal and it pained us as it did so many people. Dear Jan and family
It is with a heavy heart we write you a memory of our experiences with Dan. I recall the first time I met him, having collected a few photographs in a box and gone to Print West, proclaiming to Dan "I want to write a book on the history of the RCMP Depot" Dan gave me that smile of his and shook his head. Less than a year later, we published and the book became a national bestseller. That was typical Dan. Always helping people achieve their dreams and having fun experiencing it all. Dan, Redd and I were sitting at Darcy McGees Pub in Ottawa sharing some stories when I recieved a call from the RCMP Commissioner telling me I had been promoted. I told Dan there couldnt be a better friend to celebrate with. We feel very fortunate for the time Dan spent with us. His love of his family and life was very evident and we will remember him always. He has left a legacy with some many people and the community. Thank you for sharing Dan with us

I'm stunned and saddened to learn of Dan's passing. He and I first met while I was at USA Swimming in the late 1990's and kept in loose contact over the years. In fact after a several year absence we connected again by phone just over a month ago. Dan was always very fair to work with and it was easy to become friends as he was just a great guy.

Danny left a huge footprint on the soul of our city that will last an eternity. His legacy is everywhere, with the Roughriders, the publishing business, the golf course and his charity work. The torch he has passed on will be a difficult one to carry, such was Danny's impact. His devotion to Jan, his sons, his grandsons and all those who counted themselves as his friends was evident always. Danny was a genuine "good guy", who always took the road less travelled and made things happen. His death is to be mourned but his life is to be celebrated.

For all the good that Danny has done for so many others over the years, this is so unfair. Danny is the most balanced man I've ever known. A really good athlete, a model for all men as a Dad to Dallas, Kelly and Joel, and a dedicated and loving husband to his lifetime partner, Jan, and on top of all that, a man you could always depend on as a friend. Danny defined loyalty to his many passions, friends and family and he was the guy you could always count on to "get it done". There is now a huge gap in the lives he touched and in the projects that were only great because of his leadership. Time generally heals but in the sudden and senseless passing of this wonderful man there might not ever be enough time.
Most sincere condolences to Jan, Dallas, Kelly, Joel and the grandchildren.

Dear Marce family,
Dan's passing was such an unexpected consequence of a family vacation.
Dan was valued member of the RCMP Quarterly magazine's editorial management board. His contribution was significant, and his loss has saddened all of us.

I had gone to Central with Dan, got to know him even better when I was with the Unird Way, and saw him around Regina socially for years. We always joked that we were the only ones who stayed here after High School, to make the city a better place. He did that and more. What I remember most about Dan was his smile and the constant twinkle in his eye, while hitting you up for a donation, or just was glad to see you. One of the most honest people I have ever met. I so looked forward to our Central reunion this coming June, we would have had a blast. My sympathies to Jan and the family. He was one of the good ones, Regina won't be the same.

Dear Mrs Marce, Dallas, Kelly, Joel and families. I am so sorry for the tragic loss of your husband and father. Neighbours since I can remember, I see Mr. Marce as such a nice man, always with a friendly smile.
More recently, I was able to see his generousity, work ethic and sense of humour, as he helped my mom attain her long-time goal of printing a cookbook for her family. This kindness will never be forgotten. God bless you all.

I was saddened to hear about Dan's tragic passing. But he was surrounded by those he loved most.
I knew Dan since the days when my parents had the Y Tuck Shop and our paths crossed many times, from PrintWest to the Riders.
