Daniel Kay Van Meter

CLYDE: Daniel Kay Van Meter, 65, of Clyde passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born December 3, 1947 in Bellevue, Ohio the son of George Benton and Margaret Alice (Setzler) Van Meter.

Daniel served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War Era. He was employed as a robotics engineer. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Clyde where he was a Stephen Minister and also active in the church choir. He enjoyed golf along with making golf clubs, darts and fishing. He was very artistic and enjoyed art and music where he sang as a tenor.

He is survived by his wife, Bonita Gaye "Bonnie" (Sanwald), whom he married August 8, 1981 in Fremont; two sons, Daniel Kay Van Meter II of Portland, Oregon, Christopher J. Van Meter of Parkertown, CO; one daughter, Maggie A. Van Meter of Clyde; six grandchildren; two sisters, Alice (Cecil) Woodall of Clyde, Barbara Korecki of Toledo; and four brothers, Carl B. Van Meter of Doerun, GA, Theodore Van Meter of Granbury, TX, Russell L. Van Meter of Napoleon, OH, and Terrence L. Van Meter of Bloomdale, OH.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received on Saturday, March 30, from 9 a.m. until a memorial service officiated by Rev. Gerhardt Gosnell begins at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 143 West Forest St., Clyde, Ohio 43410. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force, and Clyde V.F.W. Foos Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Highway, Clyde is in care of arrangements.

Memorials can be made to the family for his daughter, Maggie's college fund.
