I have never met anyone nicer and more considerate than Daren. He was my best friend. A couple of months ago, Daren and I learned that we both had family roots in the Gunn clan, in Scotland. I used to joke with him, telling him that we were brothers. I realize now that what I truly had was a brother. I miss you Daren. I'll never forget you.

A Poem For Daren

A Son
A Brother
A Grandson
A Nephew
A Lover
A Friend
Our Daren

On August the 8th nineteen eighty two,
A baby was born and that baby was you.
The baby of the family, "I know what its like",
Jennifer would spoil you, Michael would steal your bike.
And they loved you so dearly, with all of their hearts,
Your sweet baby smiles and uncanny smarts.
Remember the day at the Chemainus River,
"No Mom I'm not cold,this isn't a shiver."
Your love of the water came early in life,
With ribs stickin' out, they could cut like a knife.
So you joined the swimteam, the Hyacks their name,
And you truly made swimming , your kind of game.
Bristine and I'd see you, at a local swimmeet,
When you swam the breaststroke, I was outta my seat.
Yup, that my nephew, Darens his name,
If its heaven or earth he'll truly have fame.
Remember the time with Uncle Bruces' truck,
It wasn't your driving, the emergency was stuck.
Morgan says ice cream in town was a treat,
With Kaiti and Grandma it seemed extra sweet.
Your Mom and your Dad are incredibly proud,
They could shout from the roof tops, BE INCREDIBLY LOUD.
And could you just see it,your Dad jumping 'round,
Your Mom would say "Denny just settle down".
But inside she'd be jumpin',just like he did,
Cause Daren was theirs, their magnificent kid.
From a kid you grew up and a man you became,
Your passion consisted of wrenching a plane.
Your bigger than life, to all of us left,
We do want you back, it's our Daren theft.
When you leave this earth, it not with a shrug,
Cause Papa is waiting, with a Heck of a Hug!!!!

Love you forever
Love you for always
Aunty Linda

To the Wylie family;
I am so sorry for your loss. Daren was such a wonderful individual. I used to swim with Daren, and I remember him always making light of every situation. When there was stress, he would make a joke. He was such a laid back, caring and hard working person. I hold you all in my thoughts with this tragic loss.
