Darrin Creech Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 15, 2024.
Darrin Lee Creech, age 59, departed this world to join his Lord and Savior on May 8, 2024. Darrin was born February 6, 1965, in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky to Dennis and Judy Creech. Moving to Texas several years later, Darrin drifted through the Round Rock ISD and to his father's relief, he finally graduated from Westwood High School. During that time, Darrin established lifelong friendships with several classmates, some who referred to themselves as "The Professionals".

Following High School, Darrin attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. Years after his graduation, the school found it necessary to totally rebrand itself as Texas State University.

Darrin began a career with HEB and one thing that carried over from those early HEB days was a deep understanding of "best by" and "use by" dates. Darrin taught all his friends and family they are not the same. During these years, Darrin met, fell in love with, and married Kerri Hall.

Following his HEB career, Darrin dove into banking and finance. Darrin and Kerri brought daughter Halle and son Garrett into the family. Darrin spent time working for Wells Fargo and University Federal Credit Union, an employer he dearly loved.

Darrin was known for many things; one of which was his raspy voice. Darrin attributed that to various things over the years, depending on the listening audience. Some say it was due to frequent throat punches he received as a lad from sister Debbie. Perhaps we will never know the true story and Darrin would most likely rather keep it that way.

Darrin was well known for his self-sacrificing service and love of others and was always proud to tell tall tales of his adventures. His influence and life-long advice with the many youths he engaged with on and off the field was legendary.

An avid sports fan, Darrin loved the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys. As an experienced and popular Neighborhood Sports League football coach, Darrin frequently offered advice from his recliner to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on how to manage a football team, but his advice always fell on deaf ears. Darrin respectfully requested if the family chose a conventional funeral, that six Dallas players be selected to serve as pall bearers, so the Cowboys could let him down one last time.

Darrin was the textbook definition of a family man. He deeply loved and cared for his wife and children. Seldom, if ever, did he miss one of Halle's volleyball games or Garrett's football games. When not engaged with work or his children's sports, Darrin enjoyed fishing with his dad; hunting trips with Garrett, friends, and relatives; yearly Frio River vacations with the Creech family and beach vacations with the Hall family; and arriving late to any family dinner.

Darrin was well known for his resilience in the face of adversity. Despite head-first interior wall crashes at the hands of sister Debbie, tongue lashes from sister Angie, boxing lessons from brother Derek, and migas cooking lessons from sister Niki, Darrin persevered and throughout his life, stood as the family rock for his brother and sisters who affectionately called him Shrek; the gentle giant with a big heart.

Darrin was preceded in death by mother Judy and stepfather Art Mudge. He is survived by his loving wife Kerri, children Halle and Garrett, father Dennis, and stepmother Netta, as well as siblings Debbie, Angie (Rocky), Derek, and Niki (Jim), and numerous nieces and nephews he lovingly considered his own.

Memorial services for the truest man for all seasons are set for May 25th at 4 PM, at Christ Church located at 201 Church Park Rd, Cedar Park, Texas 78613.

In remembrance of Darrin's life and love, the family asks in lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to Christ Church https://onrealm.org/ChristChurch512/-/form/give/now or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Darrin's honor.

Darrin Creech was one of a kind growing up in Anderson Mill and being a little younger than him he was someone I looked up to and man that smile. Although we were not all that close in our adult life that still resonates with me. RIP my friend

Anytime I’d see Darrin he always had a big ole smile on his face. I will always appreciate all of our heart to heart conversations for the 7 years I knew him. It was a pleasure my friend, see you on the other side.

My earliest memory: fighting my younger brother Daniel, age 12, to be the first one to get to this new kid Darrin´s house down the street and around the corner. "No, he´s my friend!" I said "No, he´s my grade!" my brother retorted back. Well, thank God, both of us became life-long and best friends to this fun-loving, big-hearted kid from Kentucky. I love you Darrin, rest-in-peace and in God´s almighty, everlasting providence.

I will always remember Darrin´s feathery hair in high school. I will also remember how he and his friends tormented me on the bus because I was from Pittsburgh and loved my Steelers. We took a trip down memory lane not too long ago when I sold my mom´s house in Anderson Mill as we lived across the street from the Creeches for many years. He was one of a kind and loved his family and friend fiercely.
