David Albert Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 19, 2024.
David Albert, 61, of Reading, MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 17, 2024 after a hard fought battle against glioblastoma.

David was born on October 9, 1962 to Claire and Jules Albert in Arlington, MA. He was a graduate from Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School.

David proudly served as a Cambridge Police Officer for 32 years with the last 6 of those years as a detective. He was highly respected by all of those who served alongside of him.

David met the love of his life, Kathleen McCarthy of Cambridge, MA in 1982 and they married on October 2, 1988. They have and will continue to be an example of true love which many aspire to find one day. They are extremely proud of the family they built together which consists of their 3 children; Haley (32), Devin (31), and Delaney (29). Haley is an ICU nurse at MGH, and married Daniel Tighe on August 19, 2023. Devin is an Account Manager in cybersecurity sales, and will soon marry Lauren Kwasnowski on July 13, 2024. Delaney is continuing her father's legacy as a Cambridge Police Officer, and married Allison McCormick on June 26, 2021.

David officially retired in 2022, and spent his last few years traveling with his family, sipping on his favorite bourbon and enjoying all the free time retirement had to offer. David is one of eight children and is survived by his mother, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. James Albert (Kathy), Jack Albert (Maureen), Brian Albert (Lorraine), Kenny Albert (Jeanette), Keith Albert (Mary Jo), Michelle Yeomelakis (Paul), and Denise Dematos (John).

Services will be held at Keefe's Funeral Home in Arlington, MA on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 4-8PM. There will be a mass held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Cambridge, MA on Wednesday, May 22 at 11AM followed by a police procession to Wood End cemetery in Reading, MA. Following the funeral, the family welcomes all of those who would like to share stories and continued sentiments to gather at Sam Walker's Tavern in Woburn, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. David contributed regularly to the Fallen First Responder Home Program and he would be grateful for the continued support in his honor.

I think i first met david and kathleen and other family members at old orchard beach when allison and delaney were dating.
We did see each other infrequently but regularly and i came to notice that he always had a kind, personal comment to everyone in the group, in a quiet moment just for that person.
I dont know devin and haley as well but i do know that delaney has that attribute and many more of his-his legacy to us.
