David Alderfer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2022.
David C. Alderfer passed to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 10, 2022. For the last 2 years of his long battle with Parkinson s, David was in Newport Meadows Nursing Home. The family is grateful for all the staff who served and expressed an enjoyment of his kindness and humor.

David is survived by his wife of 41yrs, Vivian (Seyfert) Alderfer, East Nottingham PA; his son Dana Alderfer, Harleysville, PA; his daughter Tiffany (Jim) Boyer and grandchildren Drew, Seth, and Tate, Lancaster, PA; his stepsons Brett (Rachel) Fair and grandchildren Kathryn and Emma, Charleston, SC; and Bryan (Suzanne) Fair and grandchildren Zoe and Samuel, Tega Cay, SC.; his first wife, Sandra Alderfer, Harleysville, PA; sister Paulette Fly, Landsdale, PA; brother Charles (Carolyn) Alderfer, Telford, PA; sister-in-law Patricia Alderfer, Houston TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two older brothers Robert Alderfer and Leon Alderfer.

Son of the late Paul K. and Mary (Clemons) Alderfer of Harleysville, PA., David grew up working with his father in the produce business. Following graduation from Souderton High School in 1961, he began his working career at Union National Bank. Years later he started working for WORD Music and eventually became the East Coast Regional Manager. He loved representing and interfacing with Christian artists such as Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Sandy Patti and Bill Gaither. Sports (Eagles and Phillies) and cars were also passions for David. After retirement he enjoyed selling for Hershey Motors, Parkesburg, PA.

Above all, David was actively involved with the ministry he and Vivian founded, Set Free to Set Free. Together, they came alongside people in all walks of life who were struggling with critical issues. Vivian continues the work they began in the 1990 s.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend David s memorial service at noon on Saturday, October 8th at Mt Vernon Christian Church, 1 Lighthouse Drive, Kirkwood, PA 17536. The family will receive friends between 10 and noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Set Free to Set Free, at Setfreetosetfree.org.

David will surely be missed. I pray God gives his beloved family peace and love as He receives David into His arms of love in Heaven. God bless you all today. Hugs and love.

Uncle Dave had the best laugh ever. It was a delight when I was really young, and that never ended. It is one of those memories that lives on as a 'best'.

I am saddened to learn of David's passing. We were in the same high school class. My sympathies to his entire family.

I have several very blessed memories of great conversations
with Dave while driving him to
a few of his treatments in Lancaster several years ago.
Dave was also a strong source
of humor and lightheartedness
at our men´s ministry and at
Sunday services. I was able to
visit Dave a couple times while
he was being cared for at The
Harrison House , even with all
his difficulties he still had that
same sense of humor. See you
soon my brother in Christ!
