David BREMNER Obituary
April 10, 1929 - April 15, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Captain David Bremner, Sunday, April 15 at VGH. David passed away quietly with his devoted wife of 61 years, Thelma, and close friends at his bedside. He was a true Scot, loving husband, great host and great guy. He was born in Orkney, Scotland, where he met and married Thelma. He did his two years National Service in the Navy and then joined the Merchant Marine. After he attained his Extra Master's Certificate, David immigrated to Canada and settled in Vancouver in 1967. He attained his MBA from SFU in 1975 while working for the Department of Transport, Ship Safety, for 23 years, retiring in 1990. He will be terribly missed by Thelma, family and friends both in Canada and overseas. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at VGH. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at the Mission to Seafarers, 401 East Waterfront Road; May 5, 1:00 p.m. for 1:30 p.m. service. In lieu of flowers, donations to The G.O. Baugh Scholarship Fund (for sea cadets), CMMC 401 East Waterfront Road, Vancouver V6A 4G9 or your preferred charity would be appreciated.

My condolences to David's familiy. I have a fond memory of a person that took the time to help others. David helped launch my post-navy career by inviting me to present at VTS 92 and sponsoring my membership in the Company of Master Mariners in 1991.

As a very young girl I remember how excited we got when uncle David came to Vancouver on one of his ports of call.Also when they moved to BC,was wonderful. When you think of David , kind,thoughtful great host,considerate, great conversationalist. The best person for happy hour. He always seemed to love life but first Auntie Thelma

With the passing of David a large chapter of the Company of Master Mariners of Canada also comes to a close as he gave many years of devoted service to us. He will be missed.
