David Butterfield Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 11 to Apr. 20, 2023.
David Eugene Butterfield, of Dade City, Florida was born the son of Michael Schrack and Sheila Hughes on October 2, 1974 in Steubenville, Ohio. He moved to Florida in early childhood and lived most of his life in the Dade City and Zephyrhills area. He attended Zephyrhills High School, where he made lifelong friends. He returned to Ohio his senior year to graduate from New Lexington High School, class of 1994. He moved back to Zephyrhills shortly after graduation, and in 1995, he met Teri Butterfield. It did not take long for her to fall head over heels in love with this quick witted, charismatic and charming young man and they continued to walk hand in hand, bringing out the best in each other for the next 27 years. He also quickly became the red headed son that his in-laws, Wayne and Bobbi Butterfield, never had, but always wanted and was a permanent fixture on Butterfield Lane at the family home. David and Teri were married on September 9, 2000 in Clearwater, Florida and the family was honored that David took Butterfield as his last name.

David and Teri created a beautiful family, which consisted of five surviving children and three grandchildren, son Dylan Butterfield (25) of Orlando, daughter Miranda Johnson (25) (Jordan) of Lafayette, Louisiana and their three children, Presley, Peyton, and Sadie Johnson, daughter Novelynn Butterfield (14), daughter Addelynn Butterfield (6) and daughter Oaklynn Butterfield (4).

David was a long-time employee of Zephyrhills Bottled Water, CF Industries which later became Mosaic and Ball Manufacturing. Over the last year, he left the manufacturing industry to focus on managing and growing the family's short term rental and construction business and to spend more time with his girls, which his world revolved around. Every job he ever did, he did with pride and with his whole heart, and that was never truer than the role of father and husband. His love for life, sense of humor and adventurous spirit made for an amazing family life, full of laughs and love. His free time was spent coaching the kids sports teams, volunteering for school trips and events, running kids back and forth to extracurricular activities and always attending anything they were a part of. He also enjoyed big game hunting, watching college and pro-football, and traveling with family. He was always ready for the next adventure and left a lasting positive impact on those that he meet. There was not an hour that passed in the day that his laugh could not be heard. He was greatly loved, for he loved greatly.

David passed unexpectedly on December 30, 2022 at the age of 48. He is preceded in death by his grandparents George A. and Clarice E. Hughes, his father Michael A. Schrack, his mother-in-law Roberta (Bobbi) L. Butterfield, his Uncle Gregory A. Hughes and three infant sons Cole David, Cooper Eugene and Dean Robert Butterfield. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his mother Sheila Hughes, father-in-law Wayne Butterfield, brother Brad Schrack (Kaylynn), sister Kathy Spurling (Blaine), sister-in-law Toni Schmidt (Chris), sister-in-law Kelly Butterfield and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunts, Uncles and countless extended family and friends. His loss will forever be felt by those who knew him, but his memory will forever bring a smile to their faces.

A celebration of life will be held on April 30th from 4-7 PM, at The Venue at the Block, located at 14313 7th Street, Dade City, Fl 33525.
