So So sad to hear this news, Father David was the epitome of the phrase 'a scholar and a gentleman' he was of great support to me and my wife during our time in Halstead and welcomed me into St Francis's. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family

We are so very sad to hear of the passing of Father David. He was a wonderful parish priest and married my husband and I in 2012.

I met Dave so very long ago. We were very young adults, but thought we were so grown up! Dave was the sweetest guy you could ever know. He had the nicest smile. I know you´re smiling down on everyone now Dave. Rest in love Uncle Father DAVE!

I am saddened and shocked to hear of our beloved friend's passing. He baptised both my children in the UK. I have been searching for him all these years, only to see this belatedly. Father David encouraged me out of my depression and ill health at the time to exercise again and be positive; to that intent, we trained for,and ran a half marathon together. His humour, his generosity, his smile...my husband and I have missed him all these years. We spent many a dinner together laughing and exchanging anecdotes. We are distraught to say the least, but his legacy lives on in our hearts forever. Love you, David.

So many treasured memories of our Brother Father Dave. It was such a shock that he left us so soon. I still keep wanting to pick up the phone and give him a call or send a text. So many questions I wish I would have asked.
Reading the kind words from families whose lives he touched gives me joy though. I feel that he is nearby and listening. Love to all and thank you

Dave is so missed by us all. Our love and thoughts are with his family and friends, and for those whose lives he touched, his passing is a loss to us all. He always told us he would return to England and in a way he stayed true to his word.
He was so kind and caring, his gentle way and empathy was never conditional. Regardless of ones background, faith or circumstances his compassion was for all. His homilies were just the best , he managed to make the days reading relevant to us, touching our lives and giving guidance in his gentle way.
Dave made my families life so much richer for being our friend, we are so grateful he came in to our lives and sorry he left so soon.
Dave's sister Judy (who when my son Alex met at 7years old was mesmerised by ) and her family. Dave's Brother and his family, you are all in our thoughts and we send you our love.
Rest in peace Dave with our love, you will never be forgotten and forever missed , we love you much

David was not only my Parish Priest but also a good friend to my wife Anna and me. We shared a love of learning and the advancement of knowledge as fellow academics. David loved our Border Terriers and occasionally relaxed in his favourite armchair by our wood burner and made a fuss of them.David had a wonderful sense of humour and was a compassionate and a loving man. His life has changed, not ended. Rest in peace and rise in glory. Love, Ed, Anna and the Border Terriers: Leo, Dido, Hebe and Hector.

May his memory be a blessing to all. Father Brother was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. We cherish every moment we spent with him. David's gentle spirit, kind heart and comforting words are aspirational for us. He was so quietly intelligent. We loved him dearly.
