David Eldon Drymon

(1944-2020)

David Eldon Drymon, passed away at his home on July 3, 2020, at the age of 75, surrounded by his loving family.

David was born in Dover, NJ, on November 30, 1944 to Eldon and Virginia Dare Drymon. He spent the summers of his childhood on his grandfather, Squire Headlys', farm in Milton, NJ. He loved wrestling, hunting, playing pool, and fishing. He graduated Dover High School in 1962, and went on to graduate Tusculum College of Tennessee, four years later. He served in the army between 1967 and 1970, earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He married Madeline Licciardiello, and together they settled in Lake Shawnee with their two children.

David found his life's work as a federal agent, working for the IRS. As an expert in money laundering, he worked cases involving both organized crime and narcotics. The work he did contributed to some of the largest drug busts within New Jersey at the time.

As a member of the Picatinny Arsenal Golf Club, David was a passionate golfer. He was also a life long artist and talented painter. His style of painting was most influenced by Edward Hopper, a painter of the Ashcan School movement. His home is filled with his paintings of New Jersey landscape, family homes, and family members. Other things he enjoyed included bird watching, reading, crossword puzzles, and going to the movies.

The thing that David loved most was spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Madeline and his brother Clinton Headley Drymon. He is survived by his children, Derek Drymon and Jennifer Ayers, his daughter in law Nancy Moscatiello, his son in law Timothy Ayers, his grandchildren Vera Drymon, Hazel Drymon, and Jackson Ayers, his sisters Mary DeRose and Clarissa Shipowick, his sister-in-laws Franciska Drymon, Frances Licciardiello, and Elizabeth Thornstenson, his brother-in-law Constantino Licciardello, his nieces Zillah Salmon, Heather Cimino, and Sarah Drymon, and many other nieces and nephews.

The generosity and support David provided his family was endless. He was a man of few words, but he had a calming presence that you could always count on. He never met an ice cream cone he didn't eat, or a movie he wouldn't watch. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of his life will be announced by his family at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to your local food bank or to the Humane Society of the United States, in David's name.

Dave,
A couple of years ago when you stopped driving; you became a passenger in my car and travel we did!!
We took life as it came; tried to make it better but accepted what we couldnt change.
We saw oodles of movies together (the good, the bad and the terrible). We also saw a couple of plays. (Beautiful on Broadway and the famous Christmas Carol on the Princeton University Campus) We took the Lakeland bus into NYC. We went to Newark to see the Cherry blossoms and to Ocean Grove to eat at Clancys Pub with family. We had a big party to celebrate your 75th Birthday!! We didnt think it would be your last.
I was amazed when you told me that you had ridden your bike from Milton to Dover as a boy over 12 miles and over an hour ride! You showed me the house where they had the first color television on Princeton Avenue.
Our favorite lunch spot was Bensi Ristorante Italiano. We always had iced tea, hot Italian bread and butter, spaghetti and salad with blue cheese dressing.
You will be remembered most for your kind heart and thoughtful ways. May the blessings of your life continue to surround those who you have loved.

Your sister,
Clarissa

My father was a kind, generous, loving, gentle, patient man. I was blessed to be able to call him dad. I am very sad that he had to leave this earth the way he did...he deserved more...I pray he is at peace finally. His passing will leave me empty inside for a very long time because not only was he my father, he was my friend whom I could count on, anytime, anywhere...As I look around, I feel him everywhere and nowhere, kind of like in life...he had that way to be there just enough without overcrowding, just respecting your space...he was a great guy...and I am heavyhearted without him here...I miss you Red & I love you...Thank you for everything...Thank you for being the best dad for me...we were perfect for each other & I love you very much...Jenner

I am truly sorry for your loss. I am shocked and greatly saddened by the news. Dave and I were in the same class at Dover and we went on to Tusculum College together. Clint was there for awhile also. I last saw Dave at a high school reunion several years ago. A very kind and caring individual, he will be truly missed. Rest in God's peace my friend. Till we meet again.

My father was kind, generous, calm, reassuring, patient, understanding, loving, fun...all good things...I was truly blessed to be able to call him my dad. I just can't believe he is not here with me anymore. My heart hurts and I feel lost. But when I look outside at nature, I feel him, all around me...he taught me so much without me even knowing it, just by being with him, talking with me, he always lifted me up. I think I will be spending a lot of time outside these next few months. RIP sweet man...I love you and will listen for you in the wind...Jenner
