David Feinberg Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 11, 2023.
David Feinberg

Beloved husband of the late Nina Baker Feinberg. Loving father of Jonathan (Katherine McVety) Feinberg and Joshua (Nicole Bakalis) Feinberg. Delighted grandfather of Gabriel, Jonah, Lillian and Alexander. Dear brother of Daniel (Amy Jones) Feinberg, and brother-in-law of Bobby (Marla) Baker.

In his middle age, David discovered a gift for advertising, and took great pleasure in collaborating with the young men and women at the office, half his age. To them, and to all he met thereafter, he was "Dave", not "David", and he gave his warmth freely.

Dave was a devoted flea marketeer, who would drive for hours in pursuit of folk art, paintings, and oversized memorabilia, with his Irish folk songs and Gilbert & Sullivan echoing off the toll booths and passing cars.

He loved his Nina, for whom, at the party where they met, he is rumored to have played guitar and sung "Froggy Went A' Courtin'", never to play and sing again in public. But why would he? He'd already won the love of his life.

Dave doted on Nina, doted on his boys, doted on his nieces Hillary, Erin, Lee, and Laura, and double-doted on his grandchildren, by whom he was made happy and complete.

We are grateful for his memory, and will love him always.

Interment private. Memorials in his memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, www.cancer.org would be appreciated. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals-Skokie Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com

David was a friend; truly urbane, with a clever, sophisticated sense of humor. As our neighbor for more than a quarter of a century, he, as well as Nina, brought a pleasant civility to our community. We will miss him, indeed.

That beautiful photo of David said it all. What a dear man. Steve and I were beyond lucky to have that warm, generous and smart couple as our special cousins. So many memories- But among my favorites was celebrating their love of community theater by relishing Nina performing with such joy and David doing his part. I will treasure the last conversation with David who was still eager to hear how the family was doing and to rejoice in any news.

David was understated and easy to be with. He treated me like family at Nina´s funeral. Fran and I enjoyed dinner in Florida with them. Short sentences for a wonderful person. He will be missed.Fran and Mark Sugar

David was a GIANT among men. His love for his beloved Nina and his entire family was immense. Actually, inspiring. I loved him so much and will always hold a special place in my heart for both he and Nina. I know Nina was waiting to greet him. Can you image the smile on his face ? Love to the entire family. I will cherish all the dinners and celebrations over the past 35 plus years. Forever grateful. Truly. John and David. .
