Phil and I have such fond memories with both Dave and Loretta. After moving to Bayport, we communicated mostly through holiday cards. We were saddened that our special friend has passed away. Thank you for sharing this painful message.

Dear Missy, Thank you for your message. I knew something was wrong when I couldn't reach him, but I had no one to contact. Please my deepest sympathies for you and your family. He was my lifelong friend since high school.

I am here from Columbus, '72 to add to Mark Isaia's post. He could nail a sleeping student's head with an eraser and leave no mark. I didn't swim but you knew the team respected him. We all did. I told my Mom about him once and she replied with, " He is a good man". I said "yep, that's what they call him".

"Goody" was a second father to me and many others I'm sure as well as a good friend of my family. I was blessed to have him in my life.
Story Time... I was transferred into Mr. Goodman's 1966, 9th grade class 1 month into the year. Shortly into my first day, I addressed him as "Goody ". There was dead silence followed by Ut-Oh's and "Did the new kid just call him "Goody"?
It was not long before another student with a smirk, called him "Goody".
Said student was told to hand a chalkboard eraser to Mr. Goodman, stick out his tongue out and to keep it out until told to return to his seat(Use your imagination!).
It was the unique and valued privilege of the swim team members to call him "Goody"

David Goodman was the best teacher I had at Christopher Columbus High School. He was a great influence in my education and schooled and guided us young boys to become real men. He will be fondly remembered and terribly missed. God Bless him!!
