David Charles Henderson, 80, of Lake City, died Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Bluffs Memory Care Facility in Lake City. 

He was born on March 26, 1936, in Minneapolis, to David and Bernice (Froebel) Henderson. He grew up in Nisswa, Minn., graduated from Brainerd High School and then attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a bachelor of science degree. On March 17, 1956, he married Roxy Dixon in Brainerd, Minn. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1964. 

He was employed at the John Deere Co. as a credit manager, then owned and operated Greenline Equipment, the John Deere dealership in Lake City. In the late 1970s he became the territory manager for Farm Oyl Co. In retirement he drove motor coach for a number of years for Lee Lines in Red Wing. 

He was a member of the First Congregational Church where he served as the choir director for nine years, served on the church board, sang in the church choir and was a youth group leader.  He was a Lifetime member of the VFW Post 8729 in Lake City, a Boy Scout leader from 1969-1980, served as the Arts Council treasurer for five years and was a member of AFS, a student exchange program and hosted two students. For many years, he sang in the Rochester Barbershop Chorus and was also a part of a barbershop quartet and a member of Harmony Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Roxy; one daughter, Tanya (Kambous) Eelani of Leonard, Texas; two sons, Kerry (Kathryn) Henderson of Cedarburg, Wis., and David Clay (Ivonne Morillo) Henderson of Allen, Texas; six grandchildren, Cyrus Bardiya Eelani of Longview, Texas, Braeden Henderson of Burnsville, Minn., Jennifer (Richard) Wheeler of Blanchardville, Wis., Christopher Morillo of Allen, Steven Henderson of Cedarburg, Wis., and Giselle Henderson of Allen; along with extended family Pamela, Whitney and Paisley Befort-Paul of Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George and one sister, Ervaline Wels.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the First Congregational Church, with the Rev. David Badgley officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery in Preston.  Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel, and at the church for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association
