My deepest sympathy to David's family. He was a good friend to our son, Brian, and part of the group who always showed up on Sunday evenings for "pizza at the Holtz's". I loved every one of them and looked forward to seeing the guys. In time, he was a neighbor to our daughter, Nancy, so we were able to see his children as they grew up. My prayers are with his family.

I was heartbroken to hear about David's passing. My memories of David go back to our time at USM, that included days on the softball field, casinos, Mardi Gras and other assorted night life. I always appreciated his steady presence and warm demeanor. More than just a friend, David was someone I consistently turned to for his "unique" relationship advice, and I'll always remember his thoughtful guidance. It was also a given that when a big hurricane or weather event was brewing, David would be the first person to fill me in on the details - he had such a passion for it. I was on the island of Saipan in the Pacific when it took a direct hit from (category 5) Typhoon Yutu. David kept me updated every step of the way. I could tell he really wanted to be there with me.
David's kindness, wisdom, and passion for life left a lasting impression on me, and I know on many others as well. I will truly miss him.
My thoughts are with you and your family as you navigate this loss. Please let me know if you need anything.
With heartfelt sympathy,
David Nichols
