David Key Obituary

DAVID McKENDREE KEY, JR. David McKendree Key, Jr. died in Vero Beach, FL on October 3, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1927, the second son of Ambassador and Mrs. David M. Key. He attended Groton School from 1939 to 1945. In 1949 he received an AB in English from Harvard where he was captain of the hockey and tennis teams. He served in the U.S. Army with occupational forces in Bavaria, Germany from 1949 to 1952. Following his army discharge, he worked in advertising, public relations and marketing for various NYSE listed companies. He obtained an M.B.A. degree in marketing from NYU School of Business in 1969. He lived for many years in New York City, moving to Connecticut in 1971. As a volunteer in the early days of recycling, he was coordinator for the town of Greenwich. As a member of the Field Club of Greenwich David excelled in all racquet sports, was a past president and a lifetime member of the club. After a few winters spent in Vero Beach, Florida, he and his wife became Florida residents. David is survived by Jacqueline, his wife of twenty-eight years, his son, Timothy Key, daughters; Caroline Key, Alexandra Oakes, Linda Key and four grandchildren; Alexis Legarra, Manuel, Mateo and Amanda Ramos, and two great grandchildren. David is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Andrews, two stepchildren, Edward D. Stone III and Patricia M. Stone (Chapin S. Koch) and three step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert. Services will be held on Saturday, October 17 at 11:00 am at Grace chapel, the Community Church with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's name to Groton School, P.O. Box 991, Groton, MA 01450 or to the VNA/Hospice, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

mrs. key you and the family are in my prayers. david was a great man,i enjoyed cleaning your home. i'm very happy i got to meet such a great man. stay strong, god is watching over you. signed your old housekeeper, mona leclerc. god be with you all.

I am very sorrry for your loss. I wanted to leave an encouraging scripture found at Acts 17:31 that says all those that have died have a guarentee of a ressurection. That means we will see our dead loved ones again. This scripture has helped me and I hope it helps you also.
