David Mottola Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 28, 2025.
David Kim Mottola, age 76, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2025, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Born on August 18, 1948, David spent most of his adult life in Medford, Massachusetts before enjoying retirement in Boynton Beach, Florida, and ultimately settling in his ideal climate in Myrtle Beach, SC.

David lived a full and vibrant life, deeply cherished by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Jodi Brenner Mottola; his children, Stephanie Mottola Seibold, Alexis Mottola Welch, Rachel Magerer Banton and her husband Oliver Banton, and Scott Magerer and his wife Melissa Magerer. He was a devoted "Papa" to his granddaughters Julia Seibold, Sophia Seibold, Isabelle Welch, and Charlotte Welch.

David is also survived by his siblings: Marlene (Mottola) Machera and her husband John Machera, Nancy (Mottola) Stellings and his brother Theodore (Ted) Mottola and his wife Lucy Mottola. He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jovilda Sousa Mottola and Theodore "Ted" Mottola.

David had a passion for boating, beach days, bike riding, traveling, and enjoying a really good cheeseburger. These simple pleasures brought him great joy and many lasting friendships. His sense of humor, calming presence, and love for life were evident in everything he did.

A private celebration of life will be held in South Carolina, with a luncheon for close family and friends to follow in the Boston area this Fall.

We truly enjoyed David´s company. He was "laid back", thoughtful, easy to be around. He had a positive attitude and frequently gave the " thumbs up"! We were happy to be able to call David a friend.

Jodi: David was one of a kind. I used to love to sit at the table in the café, listening to him tell stories of his life, you, his children and his friends from the past. We would sit for hours laughing, smiling and reminiscing. He will be missed by all who knew him. We loved him very much
