David "Jake" Mumpower GLADE SPRING, Va. On June 10, 2010 at 6:36 p.m., David Mumpower, age 82, went home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie May, and father, Roy Mumpower, and sisters, Isabelle Terry and Ola Mae Grisby. Mr. Mumpower served 24 years in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne - Ft. Bragg and 760 Engineering Marion. He was retired from U.S. Gypsum in 1990 and was a member of the Glade Community First Church of God. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Martha Cleatus Mumpower; son, Kenneth, and wife, Janie Coe, of Glade Spring; daughter, Patsy, and husband, Wayne Smith, of Glade Spring; son, David, and wife, Debbie Mumpower, of Glade Spring; son, Dwight and wife, Kitty Mumpower, of Glade Spring; sister, Pansy, and husband, Gerald Parks, of Marion, Va.; brother, Bill Mumpower of Baltimore; grandchildren, Tammy Boyd, Chad Coe, Stacey Miller, Harmonie Edwards, Sonja Ditto, Sara and Josh Mumpower; great-grandchildren, Dustin Cannon, Sharon Thompson, Austin Carter, Dylan Coe, Cora and Caleb Edwards, Jordan Miller, Chandler Edwards, 'His little Angel' Belle, and Sophie Ditto; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. David "Jake" Mumpower will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Little officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mount Rose Mausoleum with military rites being conducted. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of the service Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tony Rector, Darrell Ferguson, Chad Coe, Dustin Cannon, Bill Bordwine, Charles Bordwine. Honorary pallbearers: Wallace Carrico, Jim Coe, Jim Price, and his friends at the Greenway Creek Golf Course. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Glade Community First Church of God. Online condolences may be sent to drhendersonfuneralhome.com D.R. Henderson funeral home in Saltville is serving the Mumpower family.

Dwight and David, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Jake was a good man. I worked several years with him at Plasterco. He was there for me when I was going thru a rough time years ago and helped me find peace thru our God. I will always remember him. May God bless his family during this sad time.
