David Nunn, 60, of Anderson, departed this life Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, after an extended illness.

He was born June 20, 1948, in Shuqualak, Miss., to Celia Watson and the late Clay Nunn. He has lived in Anderson most of his life. David gave his life to Christ at an early age as a member of Anderson Zion Missionary Baptist Church. David attended and graduated from Anderson High School in 1967.

He served in the United States Army from April 1968, where he did a tour in Vietnam, second where he received an honorable discharge in April 1974. The commendations he received were a Vietnam Campaign Medal, two overseas bars, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Marksman M-16. He was a member of the VFW Post 10206.David worked as a journeyman millwright at Guide Corporation where he retired in 2004.

David is survived by his mother, Celia Watson; four sons, Sgt. 1st Class Damon (Patrina) Nunn Sr. of Junction City, Kan., Trevor Nunn of Anderson, David Clay (Nikquisa) Nunn of Indianapolis, Cassius “C.J.” Nunn of Anderson; a daughter, Jada Nunn of Anderson; sisters, Janet (John) Woodall, Mahala (Willie) Rolling, Ceatrice “C.C.” (John) Bostic, Alyn (James) Porter, all of Anderson, Hattie (Ricky) Dickerson of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Jimmy Lee Nunn (Bobbie), John Nunn (companion, Dorothy), Jonathan Watson, Tommy Watson of Anderson, Abraham Nunn of Indiana, and Joseph Watson of Dallas, Texas; 14 grandchildren, Damon Jr., Ja Vonna, D’Jania, Danisha, Janita, Ra’Shaunda, Annisa. Adonnis, Daquan, Rontrell, Keyara, K’Terra, Joshua, Josiah; a very special friend, Lisa Fuller; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by father, Clay Nunn; paternal grandparents, Cash and Willie D. Nunn; maternal grandparents, Ollie and Mahala Dixon; and a sister-in-law, Jovetta Watson.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1540 W. 16th St., with the Rev. Edgar Woodall officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Services entrusted to Glazebrooks Funeral Service.
