David Reiners Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 3, 2025.
David Wesley Reiners, 71, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away after a prolonged illness, which he endured with fortitude, humility and humor on February 6, 2025. Born on November 10, 1953, in Norwalk, Connecticut, David lived a life filled with adventure, curiosity, and dedication to his many passions.

David graduated from Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk before earning a degree in Business from LaSalle University in Pennsylvania. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, demonstrating the same commitment and enthusiasm that he brought to all aspects of his life. His professional career spanned various sales roles in Pennsylvania and New York before he took on the challenge of being a cross-country long-haul truck driver, navigating the vast roads of America behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler.

A true adventurer at heart, David traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states as well as Europe and Australia. His interests were as diverse as they were impressive-he created stunning stained glass pieces, built beautiful furniture, enjoyed skiing and skydiving, rode motorcycles with passion, and had a natural talent for car repairs. One of his greatest achievements was earning his private pilot's license, allowing him to experience the thrill of flight and explore the skies with awe and amazement.

David is survived by his canine companion, Sara, who he recently adopted and gave him great joy and support, his sister, Margaret Reiners Mills; brothers, John Reiners and Peter Reiners (wife Gina Arpaia Reiners); uncle Rev. Robert Reiners (wife Elizabeth Reiners); cousins Steven Trueman (wife Joy), Anna Trueman, and Keith Reiners (wife Christine); nieces Beth Fogarty (husband Sean Fogarty), Lindsey Mills Robison (husband Chris Robison), and Mary Reiners Salisbury (husband Michael Salisbury); nephews Zak Mills (wife Jessica Simpson) and Peter Reiners Jr. (fiancée Sammy Cotton); as well as several second- and third-generation nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Tolar Reiners and Margaret Wyckoff Reiners, along with his aunt and uncle, Edith Grace and Reverend Dr. Duncan Trueman.

David will be interred with military honors at the Veterans National Cemetery in Florida. A celebration of life will be scheduled with family at a later date in Ocean City, New Jersey.

David's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with humor, adventure, and an unyielding curiosity for the world around him. His memory and legacy will be cherished and remembered by his loving family and friends.

I'm so saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I had the privilege of working with Dave with two employers together. He was such a joy to work with and always lit up the room with his humor. We had kept in touch for many years. Sending my condolences and prayers to his family. He will be missed.
