David Stone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 28, 2025.
Dave Stone, 69, a longtime resident of Eugene, Oregon, passed away on Thursday, July 17, after a courageous 20-year battle with advanced prostate cancer - a fight in which he never let the cancer define him. He continued to live fully, with strength, kindness, humor and determination no matter how difficult the journey.

Dave was born on July 24, 1955, in Boston, Massachusetts, Dave spent most of his childhood in Leicester, MA, where his love for nature and insatiable curiosity about the world began to flourish. After graduating from high school, Dave went to Montana and earned a bachelor's and master's degree.

Dave dedicated many years of his life to forestry, where he found profound fulfillment working outdoors and enjoying everything it offered. He later transitioned into the wood products industry, managing several distribution locations and manufacturing facilities across the western United States. In 2001, he founded a successful wood product import business, which he operated with dedication, vision, passion, and integrity.

A man of boundless energy and curiosity, Dave had a never-ending thirst for learning. He was a loyal New England Patriots fan, an avid reader, and a passionate outdoorsman with hobbies and interests that included boating, sailing, windsurfing, rock climbing, biking, disc golf, table tennis, golf, and woodworking.

What truly set Dave apart was his belief that every new person he met could become a friend. He was a natural connector who brought people together, creating lasting memories through countless gatherings with family and friends.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Linda Fulginiti, the love of his life and best friend, his stepdaughter, Jessica Schlichting - and family, and his cherished grandson, Jacob Fisk. He is also survived by his sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, and various relatives and many, many dear friends whose lives he touched deeply.

Dave will always be remembered for his warmth, storytelling, his love of life and his bold message: F--- cancer-go get your checkups.

Dave's memory will remain a shining light and will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Dave's memory, donations may be made to Cascade Home & Hospice Group and Pete Moore Hospice House of Eugene.
