I first had a chance to see into David's character and interests at our retreat in Connecticut. I remember how approachable he was and how sincere was his desire to create real value for his business, people they serve, and other members of the Mastermind group. I remember thinking what a quality person he was and that we were all lucky to have him in the group with us. A true inspiration for goodness, kindness, and humanity.

I met David when I joined Compass 6 years ago. Upon meeting him, he invited me to his house in Santa Monica for a crab boil and game night with his team. Albeit strangers in that moment, I was immediately welcomed by David and felt like family.
From fun days at the office, to holiday parties and being part of his pranks, David was the life of the party and reverberated an energy that was infectious.
He guided me through the process when I was trying to buy a home in Santa Monica, driving me and my dog around town and being honest if something was a deal or a total waste of money.
I will forever hold onto the memories we shared and your impact and life will be celebrated every day.

I met David in 2017 when it was just him and May-Ann, and we worked on a condo sale together. I recruited them to Compass, and now I truly cannot imagine what this company and our office will be like without his physical presence. Trying to picture the upcoming retreat without him brings me to tears. One year after the "after party" of our office holiday party, he brought a bunch of us back to his place and cooked up a ton of frozen dumplings and rice and noodles (with tons of sriracha, of course) because he wasn´t ready for the night to end. I´m sad that I don´t have many pictures of us together, but I found this record of a classic David prank. Miss you so much bud, thank you for loving us all so generously

David was a mentor to our friend group. My first time I met him was when he took my friend group and me to Palm Springs. It was truly the best week and he made sure that we couldn´t leave until he gave us life lessons about how to be independent. He gave us advice that I will cherish and use to become a better person. David loved to pull pranks on all of us and we would all leave laughing. I will miss David so much.

David was always fun and inviting, welcoming. When the Santa Monica Compass offices opened, he had told me "there's an empty office right next to ours. It's yours, take it". We spoke about motorcycles, joked about attending the office meeting for food. Ordinary conversations elevated by simply talking to an extraordinary person. He was the kind of guy who'd make you feel cool if you shared one sliver of something in common, because he was cool (and super genuinely humble about it) and it would almost rub off on you for a second! He'd always give you a fist bump, a high five, or some friendly banter regardless of where he came from or was going to next.

Never met him in face to face but communicated though email because I had to reach out to tell him how he just brightened my day with his post and newsletter. I thought he had the most awesome sense of humor and I loved everything about his energy, I was heartbroken to hear about this loss. My condolences to his sons and family.

David was a good friend to many, he was so incredibly generous with his time and his positive, friendly and warm energy was welcoming to anyone who crossed his path. I'll always be grateful for his help with real estate questions and just chatting about our kids and life in general in Santa Monica. Fly with the angels David and rest in peace, you're cherished by many.

David was an amazing person who was extremely generous with his time and resources. He truly lived to help others. We went on a Compass retreat together recently in Connecticut and instantly made a huge impact on everyone he came in contact with. We had several zoom calls afterwards to discuss best practices and how we could help each other. As busy as he was, he always made time for friends and family. His legacy will live on forever and those of us who knew David, were truly blessed.

First time when I saw David was in the Keller Williams Santa Monica real estate class. During the break, he came to the break room and introduced himself. Since then I was his friend and co worker. He is a very special person. I always admire the way he lived his life, he was such a hard working person and loved his family so much. We shared so many good times. I miss you truly. I know he is still around all of us. David you inspire all of us. Love

I first knew of David when I laughed out, loud, seeing an email blast on Halloween where he was dressed as Dorothy with the rest of his team as Wizard of Oz characters.
Over time we met at various Compass events and open houses. We attended the same church. We talked about our faith and various mission trips we had each been on. He had a dream of creating a nonprofit with his team, where together we could make a difference beyond real estate.
David did make a difference, in so many lives. I am honored to have called him my friend.

My favorite story is how I met David. I met David several years ago loading the truck late in the evening for AYSO's "Picnic In The Park." We quickly found out we knew so many of the same people. Good people. People that you're proud to say are friends. We did all the heavy lifting and that is exactly who David is. David is the person who does the job that nobody else wants to do. One in a Million!

I first met David a few years ago when I was doing ju jitsu and had the same class as Lucas. David always had an upbeat vibe and was always really cool to everyone. Years later I attended a party at his house and he still remembered me from the ju jitsu days. I could tell David really cared about everyone around him and wanted the best for everyone. I am shocked and devastated to hear the news of his passing. He will be greatly missed. Sending prayers to the family .

Being a colleague of David's and doing transactions opposite him was always such a gift. He absolutely did love life and always seemed like he was coming from adventure or heading to one. I had recently just been chatting with him as our listings in the Pacific Palisades were across the street from one another. David, I will miss your huge smile, big heart and your stortytelling - I am sending you so much love and wish I had been able to give you one last hug. So many hugs to your family as well during incredibly difficult chapter.

I just wanted to let David's family know how sorry I was to hear the news of his passing. Our paths crossed as parents at Roosevelt elementary in Santa Monica. We learned that we both played tennis and we began hitting occasionally, which I enjoyed very much. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. I will remember David, and our times sharing our love of tennis always.

Dave created a safe space for the skate community back in the 90s/2000s with Small Empire. It was my favorite place to go growing up. Fast forward to 2012, my brother Andy and I opened our first business (Pure MMA) and Dave was incredibly supportive. He even brought his kids to take class with us to help support! He was such an inspiration to so many people and always will be.
Here´s a photo of us with his boys!

All our kids went to Palm Springs for a mini vacation with David. In addition to making sure they had fun, he also wanted to instill a sense of responsibility by picking up after themselves. Our family adores Lucas and has enjoyed his friendship with our daughter Bella for a number of years. As a result of knowing the Yun family, we are richer. May God give you all peace beyond understanding.

David - your energy -
Your kindness - your effusive nature - your zest for life will never be forgotten. Thank you for the memories. I hope your boys will relish in the knowledge that their Dad was a fun loving, life embracing, incredibly hard working and amazing human being ... who could also throw a mean snow ball :)

I had the pleasure of meeting David when he did a video call with our Pittsburgh Compass office. He shared many wonderful tips and helpful hints with us. Then he generously agreed to take time out of his very busy schedule to have a 1on 1 call with me and gave me so much help and insight. I am devastated to hear of his passing. He will be greatly missed. Sending love to his family.

I am deeply shocked and saddened, as I'm sure everyone who had the privilege of knowing you is as well. You were an extraordinary individual and a true industry luminary whom I deeply admired. Your newsletters, with their daring and edgy style, always pushed the boundaries, and I cherished that about them. I recall our conversations about how we both strived to challenge the status quo, and I admired your unwavering commitment to authenticity in an industry often defined by conformity.
Your unique spirit and refusal to conform to industry norms made you a true rockstar, and your impact will be felt for a long time to come. I will forever miss you and will continue to share your stories to ensure that your memory lives on. #compass

David is the coolest person I have worked for. He doesn´t want to be called boss. When I do his social media campaigns, he wants it witty, unique and 100% outrageously David. He has a strong respect for workmanship and ethics. Making him happy with the outputs I create is definitely a challenge but when I get that yes, I feel like I can do everything! I have learned so much from David. I´ll miss working with this genius. Thank you for everything, David. I am happy I got the rare chance of working with you.

I only knew David for a short amount of time, but in that time he completely changed my life. I´m am so grateful that I met David and to have called him my mentor. He took me under his wing and really believed in me. I wish we could have spent more time together, but I will forever cherish the memories I have of him. My favorite memory that I have with David is when he took me to his favorite taco spot. It was one of those street taco spots where they have the tent set up on the sidewalk. I was skeptical of the food, but David kept telling me that these were the best tacos he´s ever had. I couldn´t stop laughing when I saw that David brought his own fold out table (he was clearly prepared). We got our food and I told him how surprised I was by how good these tacos were. He said "Kyla, when I am eating dinner I am already thinking about what I´m going to eat for breakfast. So you have to trust me when I say I know where the good food is at." I almost spit out my food from how hard he made me laugh. We enjoyed our tacos and talked for a while. Our conversation started getting deep, and we were talking about how our past traumas helped push us to grow. We really connected and in that moment I was so happy that he was my mentor, boss, and friend. David was an amazing person and he was such an inspiration to me. I know David is at peace and looking over all of us. I am sending my love, thoughts, and prayers to all of David´s family, friends, and loved ones

My husband and I ran a youth camp in Oregon. A few years in David brought EZ for the week and loved it so much that the next few years Naomi and Lucas joined too. David loved spending the week with the camp kids. He did all the photography and at the end of the week he would put a slideshow together for the camp. He mentored one girl in photography and just recently he had reached out to one of the kids to possibly have a camp reunion to catch up w our TAYC family. I´ll never forget our precious family time at camp with our own kids as well as the campers. David was like a kid himself. So happy to enjoy the outdoors of Oregon and be part of bringing kids to camp. RIP David. Your zest for life is unmatched. I know you would tell us all to "live more" and I´ll continue to do so in your honor. You are never forgotten.

My first memory of David was from the Compass retreat in Atlanta at which he was a key speaker for his extremely cool marketing campaigns. I remembered him well for his charisma and passion he had for the industry and his business. We got to know each other further in a mastermind group through Compass. He was always willing to lend a hand and a laugh. He will be dearly missed.
