Deborah McCoy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 7, 2005.
Mrs. Deborah "Debby" Ann McCoy, 55, joined her mother Ruth Jones in Heaven on Sunday, December 4, 2005, after bravely battling cancer for the past two years. She was surrounded by her loved ones at her time of passing. Debby was born on Sept. 11, 1950, in Springfield to Rex and Ruth Jones. She was united in marriage to Harold "Mac" McCoy on July 24, 1982, whereupon they both served as dedicated educators in school districts across the state of Missouri. In June of 2003, she retired from the Grandview School District, which had bestowed upon her the honor of "Teacher of the Year." Her love and enthusiasm for teaching serves as a model for those who have had the opportunity to know and work with her. Debby was a very loving mother to her daughter, Stephanie Hein. She recently returned to the family farm in the Springfield area to be with her granddaughters, Megan and Emily Hein. Her granddaughters gave her much joy and comfort every time she was with them. Debby will be greatly missed by her husband, Mac McCoy her daughter and her son-in-law, Stephanie and Tony Hein as well as her granddaughters, Megan and Emily Hein, all of Springfield. She will also be sadly missed by her father and his wife, Rex and Wilma Jean Jones a sister and her husband, Becky and Keith Haseltine two brothers and their wives, Doug and Debbie Jones and Mark and Anita Jones sister and brother-inlaw, Sandra and Ken Gottel Mac's sons, daughters, and grandchildren as well as a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Debby will be missed very much. Her loving memory will be forever in the hearts of those who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. in ThiemeShadel Funeral Service at Midtown with burial to follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge of K.C., and North Point Church. Online condolences can be made at www.thiemeshadel.com
